Stop allowing people make derogatory remarks on pulpits – Fubara to Church leaders

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on churches in the state to stop people from using the pulpit as a platform for personal attacks but as a place to foster peace and unity among the people.

Speaking at the Inter-denominational Thanksgiving Service for the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Catholic Institute of West Africa, CIWA, in PortHarcourt on Sunday, the governor emphasized the need to discourage divisive or abusive rhetoric from speakers, including himself.

Governor Fubara urged church leaders to intervene when speakers deviate from constructive messages by taking back the microphone to preserve the sanctity of the pulpit and the House of God.

Fubara said, “Let me also appeal to all the religious bodies in this state. Please, your pulpit should be a place to talk about the progress and unification of the people of Rivers State.

"It shouldn’t be a point of an opportunity for people to cast aspersions, to abuse people, to say all sorts of things, and more worrisome, in the House of God.

Please, I want to beg you. You need to stop it, including myself. If I start shooting out of order, drag the mic from me.”

Hopefully he’ll not deal with whoever does it when he talks politics on the pulpit.

By the way, what’s the reason for allowing politicians make comments from the pulpits if the sanctity of the place is maintained?

2027 we determined who's big between wike and fubara

I foreseen wike backing APC candidate, with the way PDP is losing their strongholds I see Fubara joining his new elected chairmen party, I see Some rivers state people like Asari using his boys to defend the poll and lying behind him while some PDP stalwarts won't follow him but maintain neutrality

The ball is going to be at the poll, I don't see Fubara surviving this without PDP stalwarts support. 2027 is going to be an interesting time in rivers state

Something he has done severally. Politicians are all the same. In several church gatherings, thanksgiving and other church events, he has talked politics over and over again.

Re: Fubara: Drag The Mic From Me If I Start Talking Politics In Church by Christ4ever:
Both Fubara and Wike have turned church into a dissing ground.

Wike go yab Fubara during morning service, Fubara go respond for afternoon service.

It's the churches that organize weekly " insult-campaign services"I go blame
