The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspects for assaulting a salesgirl in Lagos.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Monday.

He stated, “Three suspects have been arrested for beating and brutalising a salesgirl in Lagos. The Lagos State Police Command has been on top of the matter, and justice must be served. Thank you all.”

The incident, captured in a video that went viral on social media on Sunday, showed four men whipping the woman as she writhed on the ground inside a boutique opposite Tantalizers on Lagos Island.

The video caption alleged that the salesgirl was accused of stealing from her employer, the boutique owner, who reportedly instructed unidentified men to flog her as punishment.

I saw a woman who arrested her salesboy for stealing her phone. And some good Samaritans went and bail the boy and paid for the phone to the madam and the boy knelt down and cried asking for forgiveness and she cried also and they hugged themselves.


This act of brutalizing an adult for a misconduct is really stupid.

The boutique owner had no right to take the law into his own hands. If he believed the salesgirl stole from him, the proper thing to do was report her to the police. Now, instead of solving the issue, he’s facing serious consequences himself.
