Abducted Anambra Reverend Sisters Regain Freedom by TimeManager(op): 7:43am On Jan 14, 2025
The two abducted reverend sisters, identified as Vincentia Nwankwo and Grace Okoli, have regained freedom after spending about six days with their captors.

The reverend sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ, were kidnapped on Tuesday, along the Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state, on their way back from a vocational association’s meeting in Ogboji.

Although the actual date of their release could not be ascertained, their release was confirmed in a press statement issued on Monday and signed by the Secretary General of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Maria Ikeotuonye.

According to Ikeotuonye, the two reverend sisters were released unconditionally and are in good health.

The statement read in part, “I bring to your notice in joy that our dear Sisters Vincentia Maria Nwankwo and Grace Mariette Okoli, who were kidnapped in the evening of Tuesday, January 7, 2025, have been released unconditionally and in good health.

“We thank God and thank you all for your prayers and support all through these rough and uncertain days. May God forever be blessed through Mary our Mother.”

When contacted, the Anambra State Police Command Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed their release but said the command was yet to take brief of what happened.

“Yes, we are hearing that the two nuns have been released, but the command is yet to take the brief from the victims to ascertain what happened. Further details shall be communicated,” Ikenga added.

Thank God

Shame on the Federal government for allowing security of lives and property to be growing worse daily.

The failure is squarely that of the federal government as no states can control their own security forces.

Bitter Obidient, early morning wailing don start grin . Tell your state Governor to return all the security votes he is collecting every month and not collect it anymore from the federal government. If Enugu Governor is as stupid as your Governor, peace would not have returned to Enugu by now. Osun Government arrested some suspected terrorists in the state, they didn't wait for federal government to come and police their border before securing the state. You keep giving excuses for the failure of your Governor who is stealing away your future.

Why do we have security in the exclusive list of the Federal government?

Not exactly in Enugu, it happened along the road to Abakaliki. Compare this isolated case to the reoccurring incidents in Anambra in the last one month and see the wide gap.

It has been like that for decades. How many of these infrastructure did PDP provide in 16 years?. Even the 2nd Niger bridge in your backyard, APC came into power and built it. During Peter Obi's tenure, he failed in insecurity, Akwuzu SARS were killing Anambra youths and throwing their bodies inside Ezu river.

Why are the Governors the Chief security officer of their states?. Are you blind to some Governors equipping security architecture within their states?, they don't have to wait for FG to secure their citizens. Those are the few sensible Governors.

The Pandora fraud aka Pita Hobi as usual is no where to be seen here. He will never condemn the atrocities perform by his kinsmen, but the born hypocrite will be the first to condemn the kidnapping far away in Zamfara.

The lunatic will be the first to post on unverified national grid collapse.

No wonder when he was a Gov, he got all his advises from mad man like him

Yes he failed in insecurity and succeed in security (securing the lives of the law abiding citizens in the state)

During PDP era
Roads were better maintained
Insecurity was at tolerable level
No hunger as food wasn't an issue
Education was better as school wasn't scam then
Due to lower hardship people enjoyed better health conditions

Many reforms were proposed and executed and that's what the APC are messing up for like 10 years now.

I wonder if this we will be here communicating today if not for PDP government

please don't be gullible the bridge you mention was initiated by yar adua as part of his agendas he paid part of the payment for the construction Good luck paid the remaining and thanks to the snail like construction of Julius Berger it was finished during buhari's tenure and he took the glory all these are public records you can easily have access to online the APC led govt have barely done anything on of the things I commented the present president for was the creation of the security fund

I hope they were not harmed or violated

Out of curiosity, what is the punishment for kidnappers in these states, according to the law?

Because the way kidnapping news keep flying here and there, it may seem their punishment when caught is lenient or granting them amnesty
