30 years ago, it was more of a cultural thing not to be labelled a divorcee. Couples may not be in good terms, but would still remain 'married'

I'm assuming you're not 50 yet, if so forget am una no dey read newspaper , the decline in reading newspaper started in the late 80s for youths and completely manifested by the 2000s. Divorcees were required to be published in newspaper hence the reference!
