If you are sure you didn’t conspire to bypass, go to the police and arrest the person who fixed your meter for investigation and possible prosecution |

ImpeccableDust:I have worked as an Estate facility manager for 6 years and I have encountered every sorts of meter bypass. I have never seen a single case where the meter was bypassed without the consent of the owner/user be it full bypass or partial bypass they're always aware of it. Initially they will try to deny ever being aware of the tampering but when I bring out their consumption records and recharge ( depending on how long they have been using the meter)for the past one year and ask them some really deep questions then they start confessing and seeking for soft landings. The meter installer must have told him " Oga e get wetin I go do for you wey go make your light no go dey finish quick". And guy man would be like " oya na do am for me" . |

Nothing can be done. Pay the money and get another meter cause fixing it will cost you almost the same amount. |

These guys are the same notorious crooks working with the former nepa. They still work with the same mentality, until they push them out of the system. I can bet one of them did you dirty. I applied for a three phased prepaid meter February last year after paying close to 200k, knowing the official helped himself too, but was not bothered. It will be exactly a year by next month after giving series of excuses. The payment had been confirmed on their portal, yet I have no idea when I am getting the meter. |

Osgilliat:Nigerians and their ever-poor attitude and behaviour. Someone was caught on meter bypass and you are still telling him not to allow people wearing the Ikeja Electric uniform which are actually the right people to inspect. If he doesn't allow the genuine people to inspect, is it the fake people who put him into the problems he should still allow? @OP, seeking advice from Nairaland will only mislead you more cause an average Nigeria is not ready to the right thing. It's better you just take the invite issued to you to their office and follow proceedings. You are even lucky with that amount. I know people who got millions. Nairalanders will only add to your problems o. Mind you, it's not Nairaland that has been enjoying free energy o. |

JASONjnr:I'm not saying outrightly that he doesn't know about the meter bypass but it's possible that he didn't know about it. There's a young lady whose flat is next to my kid brother's apartment. She did her metre bypass in such a way that nobody could detect it. She left the apartment unceremoniously so she didn't pick many of her stuff, plus the metre. Even the landlord didn't know she was leaving. A new person later came to occupy the place and didn't know Jack about the meter. It was the other tenants who informed him. They placed the pumping machine of the house on the metre cause that him metre, na cruise. |

vikgreen01:how? you are even lucky, you can be taken to court for that, and it may be difficult for you to win it. Here is my advise to you. Take down that evidence picture, if you can kill the thread and sort it out with the officials and appeal to pay part of it or plan to be paying along with your bills. Yes! economy is tough and the electricity body arent doing well, worse of it with corruption glaring at many daily. Please DO NOT YIELD to the temptation. Its a shameful act. I just hope you understand. |

JASONjnr:I agree with you bros. There's no way he won't know about it especially since he said it's been a long time. He would have been recharging his units, checking his balance etc and would definitely have detected a by pass since a meter that bypassed to direct connection would not read or recharge. Except if there is something the Op didn't clarify to us o. |

Would you say you didn't notice something was wrong when you were getting a very low reading than normal? Abeg carry your responsibility. In western country you'd be charged and jailed for fraud. Plus big fine self |

Osgilliat:Terrible service. Wicked people. Na to wise up to deal with these people. You'll be working hard to earn your pay and some are just sitting somewhere scheming to siphon your hard-earned funds with evil methods. |

JASONjnr:Finally, a reasonable person has spoken. Kudos to you chief 👏👍. It's so obvious this man knew about the bypass, it's damn obvious 💯. If you're very observant, you'll notice he's only curious about getting it fixed by an unauthorized person so that he can again bypass the fine slammed on him. |

Osgilliat:. It is very easy to prove that a EKEDC official fraudulently tampered with your meter. Just get your consumption and recharge records at at least six months prior to the supposed tampering date and your consumption immediately after the tampering. Draft a letter with these datas and send to marina and watch how quickly the matter would be resolved. I believe that his meter installer and himself were aware of this bypass, if you've dealt with these meter bypass before then you will know that something is fishy with this story, it's not adding up, I've worked as a estate facility manager for 6yrs and I can confidently tell you that this guy is complicit with the tampering. If it were an inside job then they wouldn't serve him an official bypass default letter and penalty. That money is not going into any individual accounts, he will pay it directly onto the Disco account. The only fraud I see here is the 30k for wire, which is just money for the boys, mark my words, even if he gives them the 30k he's not going to be allowed to connect to power if he does they will disconnect him again and slam additional fee on him. They only way out is if he can negotiate a payment plan for the penalty and maybe pay 50% percent of the money and then they will now place him on a 50/50 recharge bases where whatever amount he recharges would be divided in two, e.g he buys 10k worth of power but only gets 5k . This will continue until he's able to pay off the outstanding amount. |

You are not coming out clean enough on this your meter saga. Quote me anywhere, no engineer will bypass your meter for you without your consent because the process requires paying them for the dirty work. I am using meter in both my working place and my house, and these meters were supplied to me on different occasions in which the engineer attached to fix each of the meter asked me if I'm interested in bypassing the meters which I decline. It depend on your choice whether to bypass or not...but my advice to anyone reading this is that don't allow them to bypass your meter because it always bring regret in the end. Is either they bypass and the meter begins to malfunction, Or, they over-bypass the meter in such a way that you meter will be reading low to the extent that a token of 10unit might take you like 2-3months to finish. And the moment you get caught on any of the above faults, AEDC or IKDC will kill you with charges. Meter is good and very good. All you need to learn how to do is how to manage your purchased unit. Poster, with time your case will be solve. Just exercise some patient and don't give it quick approach for now because your case might have still fresh in the minds |

Xisnin:Most households don't need more than 2KW to live comfortably. 250watt solar panels(8 units) 600k Charge controller(60 amp) 120k Inverter(At least 2KW) 80k Deep-cycle batteries(200AH, 12V, 2 units) 300k Total: 1.1 million Naira. Now compare with Nepa(Assuming grade A class with at least 20 hours a day of light): 2KW of constant power will be costing you about 5k~8K every single week. Multiply by 53 to get 424k in a year. In just about two and half years that solar system has paid off. |
