You can use Access bank if you want a solar installment payment stuff. You must have heard about their Switch-To-Solar scheme. Approach them. (I think Sterling and Stanbic IBTC offer as well). Leaving those ones, Sun King offers payment plan too, monthly, etc. I don't have my old phone, I would have uploaded a screenshot. You can search it out online, especially their Nigerian base.

Back to your matter, the guy that install your meter did you dirty. He was the one that bypass it without your consent then likely reported you meter officials. As you can see he is already helping you out to retrieve your wire.your wire is your property, they shouldn’t have taken it away. They should have used it connect you direct.
You can’t repair the meter anymore. It’s been deactivated from their own side.
Negotiate with them on the fine, pay it and request for another meter. That’s the only way out.

These Phcn are ripping people off but their time are coming to an end soon. Once states starts to oversee their activities themselves, hopefully things will change.

The case was of internal Bypassing of the meter, before it can be done one must have access to the inner part of the meter which those Ikeja people or the installer can't gain access. There are evidences before he is billed that amount and when you check his vending, it will be very poor or non that shows there is an intent not to be making payment.

These guys are the same notorious crooks working with the former nepa. They still work with the same mentality, until they push them out of the system. I can bet one of them did you dirty. I applied for a three phased prepaid meter February last year after paying close to 200k, knowing the official helped himself too, but was not bothered. It will be exactly a year by next month after giving series of excuses. The payment had been confirmed on their portal, yet I have no idea when I am getting the meter.

Go their office make demands that your meter should be installed. It is stated it should be installed 10 days after payment or the disco will be paying you for bridge of contract, create a scene in their office, if u quiet nothing for you oo, go forward by writing to them with threat you will go to NERC to seek for justice I believe dey go shift ground. But if after this nothing is done proceed to the NERC office in your state with your payments details and stamped letter written to them to provide your paid meter .

Simple as A,B,C.

The new tenant knows it's bypass because loads are stock on the meter and the moment you stop paying or recharging your meter makes it a bypass.

Nobody who uses a prepaid meter and doesn't load the meter wouldn't know that he's running a free meter.

I have a prepaid meter and solar. I load heavy things on the meter and run lights and few loads on the solar 24/7.

2KW of constant power will be costing you about 5k~8K every single week. Multiply by 53 to get 424k in a year. In just about two and half years that solar system has paid off.

I was just telling a tenant in one of my Dad's house. He said they had issues and the electrician said they can bypass for now...now, they don't even have any electricity. I told him there was electricity before he moved in. How do you move in less than a week and you already have issues and want to bypass? I told him...if you are caught, thank God we have all credentials, we will hand you over to IBEDC directly ni make you face them in court, and if we have to cover any penalty, we charge you to court with your NIN. All Landlords should wake up and be smart. Another landlord faced similar issues and the tenant did not pay the debt and left. The debt is attached to the prepaid meter, so either landlord pays or it is factored into the future bills of new tenant...how terrible is that. Wise up and check on your tenants with electricians once every 6 months or contact IBEDC office to pull reports of all meter numbers to ensure tenants are paying into them. A word is enough for the wise.

Recently, the official who got the meter for me reached out to me, he told me I should bring 30k to retrieve the wire and when I asked him what about fixing the meter, he'd brushed me off.

During the heated argument with the meter monitoring team, I was told some wires has been cut off inside the meter which I am sure it wasn't from me.

I would like to know if this meter can be fix by a technician so it can continue to work normally rather than taking it to their office where I don't know what else they would charge me in the cause of finding solutions to the meter.

This break my heart. Before I could get that meter, I went through hell. It took the official 6 good months to bring the meter to me after making payment, even collected more than the amount required for a meter.
I wouldn't want to request for a new meter as the price for a three phase meter is now 250k and I got it for 100k that year...
I hope I get a solution in repairing the meter...

If the meter was bypassed, it would mean that you were not paying anything for power usage.
NEPA people monitor things like this as this was what got you into trouble.

You probably did do the bypass, but you knew the meter wasn't reading.

From your explanation, it seems the PHCN staff did you dirty. A bypass literally involves avoiding the meter and connecting wires directly which should be obvious to you except, of course, you are not telling us the full story.

I don't know which Disco is this(maybe IBEDC), but i'm sure you dare not reconnect yourself without making that payment payment or fix your meter under DISCo where I live. Fixing meter is illegal here. In fact, internal bypass, they go with the meter.

Those nepa boys are one of the most corrupt people in Nigeria.
My prepaid meter enters a code due to less than 10 units on it and my wife called the installer who sent a guy to me, and he charged me 20k to restore the meter. Later, I heard If I go to their office, it will be like 5k, I was so pained that someone just cheated me like that, it happened second time and on my way to their office I saw one of their staffs who help me out to restore the meter. It happened 3rd time due to 2 factors which are power outage in my area and upgrade in their office. I try to recharge through my bank app but it wasn't successful, but my money was deducted, and I went to their office to see the customer care who gave me the restoring code freely and directed me to the appropriate office to buy the units. I key the code myself and the units and it was successful.

The bottom line is to stop dealing with the touts, go and explain yourself to the customer care who may refer you to appropriate personnel to solve your issue

When something is not logical ...there is no truth in it . No nepa man will bye pass your meter without your consent . In this case it backfired ...This ade the kind of people that loafs 5k in a month while those being honest ade loading more than 50k a month .

The solution is to negotiate with nepa and get your meter reset a d connected ...

3-phase meter has 4-wiring system, i.e, neutral, red phase, yellow phase and blue phase. You can change from one phase to another or dedicate each section of the house to a phase for load distribution. All the phases can have fuse inserted into them and they run concurrently. It carries more load

Single phase has 2-wires wiring system...just the neutral and a phase or live. It doesn't carry much load.

So you don't use nepa at all?

Meter Bypass is a criminal offense punishable by the law.

As long as you've been billed LOR and Penalty for meter bypass, you do not need to be scared anymore. Just visit their office for a payment plan and also to know if the meter can be corrected officially. If yes, fine. If no, you need to apply for a New meter.

Make sure you get official receipt for any payment you're making.

Even if he applies for a new meter, he will meet the outstanding fine there, in which a certain amount will be deducted for every recharge, and he will have a certain amount he can recharge so the percetage can be deducted, the best thing is to avoid this by pass because the outcome is complicated, i know many compounds in by area caught up in this mess, till date all they now do is by pass at midnight only was its 5am they remove it, just because the fine on them is just too much to pay up

I provided them the receipts for all my vending payment which I made when I noticed the meter didn't trigger off which I also reported to the official that brought the meter. The official was called and he even pleaded with them...
