casualobserver:That period in history was a time when young men and women had revolutionary ideas, not now that 50yrs old men and women are without any ideology or direction like pussies and woke feminists. That period was when boys and girls of 18–30 acted like real men with balls, and girls with intellect, not affected by flouride in their paste and water that diminishes their manliness and brains. The idealogy of the time was pan Africanism and liberation movements. Those young soldiers saw a need to stop the chaos in the south western region–with Awolowo's freedom as their rallying point. This is very important note. If you miss this aspect, then you will miss all. |

2elliot:What did Sardauna Bello, OkotieEboh, Ademulegun, Sodeinde, Pam, Lagerma Maimalari etc have to do with the crisis in the Western Region |
| Re: January 15, 1966: A Morning Of Murder, Mayhem And Carnage By FFK by 2elliot: 1:58pm On Jan 15, 2025 |
garykoeman:They were the people remotely involved in the crisis at the time. Why didn't Awolowo's or his key men affected? Why didn't the coup plotter go after Awolowo in prison if he was a person of interest to them? It was for his benefit the coup was planned for. The northem leaders who became victims had connections with Akintola faction. And besides, there were issues even the north at the time the south west was experiencing wild wild west. The eastern region was not experiencing any political crisis at the time to necessitate involving them. |

casualobserver:You’re absolutely right. The Igbos had no need for the coup. They held the officer cadre of the military, the Chief of Army Staff, the presidency, and the presidency of the House. Yet, a group of soldiers foolishly intervened in a Western Region crisis—a problem tied to Awolowo and his jailed cronies. This disastrous meddling should be a brutal lesson for every Igbo: never intervene in battles that aren’t yours, no matter how much blood floods the streets. Let others fight their own wars. |

They sowed the wind and reaped the whirlwind! Mutiny is wrong and this one was unsuccessful! Spilt blood always calls out for justice. |

Yet, a group of soldiers foolishly intervened in a Western Region crisis—a problem tied to Awolowo and his jailed cronies. There was peace in the eastern Region with the economy adjudged as the fastest-growing in the world. The east was at peace with itself. This disastrous meddling should be a brutal lesson for every Igbo: never intervene in battles that aren’t yours, no matter how much blood floods the streets. Let others fight their own wars. The Igbo playbook going forward should be that no intervention if an issue has nothing to do with the Igbo race. Southern Nigeria only exist in the feeble mind of manipulators. The best interests is the interests of the only the igbos. |

2elliot:Excuse me it is the same mistake they are making with the Obidient movement. Even captain Gbuli admitted with the benefit of hindsight that he wouldn’t have staged the coup. There is nothing more dangerous than young people who think they know it all. I didn’t miss the point. It is irrelevant because the coup failed. I think you missed that point. If you stage a coup and you fail, the consequence is death, no one cares about your intention. The consequence of the coup failure in this case was the handing over to Igbo centric section of the country even though it was never their intention and it was exactly what they were fighting against. But nobody cares about your intention. People only remember the effects, results and consequences. I repeat in case you missed it that I don’t believe it was an Ibo coup but the consequence of it was to hand over to Igbo centric leadership. I think you miss that point. |

raumdeuter:They made up the government that were involved in the crisis in the western region. The state of emergency was enforced by military hierarchy in support of the Akintola and Belewa alliance. Sardauna Bello was the leader of the NPC, which means that he was the leader of Belewa. All of these men were interconnected. |

MasterJayJay:Thanks bro. Any reasonable person will see the mischief and selective amnesia from FFK, as if Nigeria's problems began in 1966. When will 'One Nigerianists' and 'Lovers of Nigeria' apologize for the massacre of Igbos in Jos in 1945 and in Kano in 1953? Were wives, children, husbands and parents not victims of these murderous events way before 1966? The obsession against the IGBO in Nigeria has always existed prior to 1966 and was well-known even to the foreign press https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_odAy4rVz8 |

The question still remains why were large percentage of the January 1966 coupists made up of Igbo tribes? Why did they spare the lives of Igbo prominent leaders such as Nnamdi Azikwe, Ironsi, Ojukwu etc? |

The '66 coup was a grave mistake. I don't usually agree with infantile brained FFK but I really sympathise with him on that childhood horror. I'm not surprised that northerners are still to this day finding it hard to forgive the Igbos. That coup was a stain on our oneness as black people and as humans at large. I wish a leader will arise in Nigeria who will find a way to reconcile everyone just like the Rwandans did after 1994. |

FFK with the diarrhea of the mouth spewing garbage as usual.🤮🤮 The unfortunate truth about the Nigerian history is that the FGN purposely chose not to preserve it or distort because it skews the narrative being propagated by certain groups to justify the injustices being carried out. Unfortunately for Nigeria, it can never run away from its shadows which continues to haunt it till today. Argue all we want, Nigeria should never have been one country but the British viewed it as business unit for her majesty's empire. Biafra presented the opportunity for Nigeria to allow the Easterns go their separate way, but again it was the same British that advised the government of Yakubu "Jack" Gowon against allowing this because of oil. If only the average Nigerian would spend the time and energy they spent on big brother Nigeria in learning the true history of Nigeria, they will understand that the politicians have always been and continue to be the cancer eating Nigeria. |
