The owners of Manchester City illegally injected money into the club under the guise of sponsorships for the sole purpose of inflating their revenue. The rules of FFP tie the amount that clubs can spend on players to the revenue they generate. If Man City inflated their revenue using fake sponsorship deals, it is safe to state that they gamed FFP and gained undue advantage in the transfer market by being able to spend far more than they should have been able to. If at this point you can't see how being guilty of what they are charged with directly influenced their performance on the pitch and the titles they won, then I do not know what to tell you.
