Men of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended two suspects for using fake bank transfers to buy clothes worth N220,000 in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects are Opeyemi Ibrahim and Dimeji Bakare
.

The Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Wednesday, said the fake transfer was detected at the scene and an alarm was raised.

Odutola noted that the incident was reported to the Oru-Ijebu division of the command by one Christopher Chukwuma.

She said: “The Divisional Police Officer of Oru-Ijebu, on Monday at about 11:30 am, received a case of obtaining goods under false pretences from one Christopher Chukwuma of Ijebu North Local Government Area.

“The suspects, Opeyemi Ibrahim and Dimeji Bakare, were apprehended for fraudulently purchasing clothes worth N220,000 using fake bank transfers.”

According to her, on further investigation, it was discovered that one of the suspects had, in 2023, committed a similar offence by purchasing generators valued at N140,000 using fake transfers.

Odutola stated that the items were recovered and further investigation is underway for more discoveries.

She added that on completion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged in court.

I hope the clothes are released to the seller. It should not be confiscate in the name of exhibits. Confiscating the materials will make it a monumental loss to the seller. Or the criminal boys be forced to pay for them.

Using fake bank transfers to purchase clothes and generators to impress peers or seek attention has led to their downfall. Sadly, this desperate need to "show off" ultimately resulted in stealing and deception. Now, they've been caught and will face the full consequences of the law.
