Tragedy struck in Okete, a quiet community in the Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, on Thursday when a truck crashed into a residential building, killing nine members of a family.

Sources said the incident occurred around 5 am when the family was still asleep.

It was gathered that the truck suffered a brake failure, which caused the driver to lose control, leading to the collision with the house situated along the roadside.

An eyewitness said, “The incident happened early this morning when most people were still in bed. The loud noise from the crash woke up the neighbours.”

The Benue State Police Command confirmed the incident.

The command’s spokesperson, Catherine Anene, said, “The truck rammed into a residential building, killing nine members of the family. The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.”

She added that the police had commenced a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and assured the public that further details would be provided in due course.

sometimes things like this is not ordinary brother

I'm looking at the crash photos but the only thing I can picture is a family of nine living in just that small space.

I can only imagine the amount of trauma individuals who grow up under such conditions live with without even knowing.

I live with trauma despite being more fortunate than them, as my own misfortune was the wall dividing my parents' bedroom from mine.
Being awoken every other night by their melody under the throes of passion has left me scarred to this day.

My heart goes out to these ones; their scarred souls and crushed bones.

But that road is not good na. How can truck rammed into a bulding with so much casualties like this na wao this is January for christ sake. Some of the houses self are very close to the road and its very wrong.
