Yes this government is useless, but at the end, nothing comes for cheap

Welcome to deregulation. Subsidy as practiced by your herooes in pdp and apc brought us here.

shortgun:
The country is crumbling before our eyes—the economic has collapsed, record-breaking unemployment never seen in the country before, businesses are closing down leaving families they support in despair.
Parents are forced to endure the agony of seeing their children starve day after day.
Tinubu’s presidency will forever be remembered as the epitome of incompetence, corruption, and failure.
We once believed no leader could surpass Buhari’s ineptitude, but Tinubu has shocked us all by doing just that.
What makes this tragedy worse is the utter absence of hope for change or improvement.
Since the wicked son of lucifer removed subsidy there's nothing of benefit the average Nigerian can point to as the gains of subsidy removal
Keeping subsidy would have led to a debt of something like 200 trillion naira or more by now.

And zero refineries
And dangote exporting all his stuff abroad

If we kept petrol at 200 naira.

Things cost money. You don't have to support apc or pdp to believe that

After complaining that N200 was too high during GEJ's time?
Jorussia:
I have been vindicated again.Forget all the noise, there is no way we as country can get the full benefit of full deregulation,if the govt don't address the current exchange rate.for Christ sake #1600 is too much and it doesn't have any Benefit to this country. The reasonable exchange should be around #800.

Unless the terms at which he is getting his crude for naira is known, I expect Dangote to keep manipulating us as that is his modus operandi. He will do all he can to frustrate the other marketers until he monopolizes the sector.

Blame Biden who slammed new sanctions on Russian oil tankers.

Oil has actually increased significantly to over $80 in the international market since Biden announced the new sanctions that will prevent almost 1m barrel of crude daily supply to the market.
So Biden is the one that plummetted your exchange rate black market from #735 to #1700. You never start. Your black market exchange rate was #735 when you floated it, not the official rate, black marker rate.
You destroyed your economy and you are calling Biden, you would call Trump. You never start.

A really heartless government would have kept fuel at 65 naira per liter.

By now we would have been spending 900 to 1000 naira per liter in subsides, or somewhere around 100 billion naira a day in subsides

Which amounts to 36 trillion naira annually by now.

What was our budget for this year again?

And the resulting hole would be filled by loans.

The resuliting economic chaos would make today's hardship look like fun and good times.

You want the truth or you just want to hear lies?

I guess the latter.

Okay, we can buy fuel at 20 naira a liter. The government is lying to us.

You must be happy now. cheesy

Selling crude in Naira to Dangote and alleviating the transportation cost for him is a subsidy. The enumeration of Nigerian workers is cheap labour and a form of subsidy.

Dangote should be selling cheaper than US

Greedy and self centered Nigerians wont mind FG taking loans if it gave them their N65 per litre petrol.

The other scenario would be what would happen if foreign countries, banks and multilateral agencies like IMF refused to give us loan again, because we were clearly going broke and would be unable to payhuh

The damage that would cause to this country and its economy would be 100times what we are going through now.

So better to arrange ourselves now and go through this shege, than go through a bigger shege down the road aka Zimbabwe and Venezuela!!

Actually. No.

Dangote doesn't get anything for transportation.

And naira sale of crude is just government playing around with words. It is like me saying that I bought something that cost 1 dollar at 1600 naira. It don't make it cheap

Plus dangote has to run at a profit. He took loans plus workers must be incentivised not to go to foreign climes

Very Wicked men up there. If you know you know
I think you got it wrong,as long as crude oil prices continue to fluctuate in the international market so is going to be the prices of products from dangote as he keep sourcing for crude oil from outside Nigeria,if Tinubu is serious about helping Nigeria n Nigerians,he should have made sure that everything under the sun is done to ensure that dangote gets crude supply from Nigeria but most ironically dangote is sourcing for crude oil from abroad with all the attached problems of international trade n Nigerians expect dangote to keep prices low!, even try the so call crude oil sale in naira to dangote doesn't mean much in practical terms, dangote has nothing to lose as his market is far beyond Nigeria, Nigeria n Nigerians should have themselves to blame if they fail to take the huge opportunity that dangote refinery presents

Advice is not a curse.

You know nothing about selling crude oil in naira to Nigerian refinery. Yet you want to talk about the economics of it by saying it's just a pun on words and doesn't amount to subsidy. You are the one exposing yourself not the other way around.

The only way Nigeria can have a strong currency is via manufactured goods and services

And even then it won't make petrol cheap and affordable. People who give you the petrol all wanna be paid salaries that would prevent jakpa
if manufacturing is what really ensures strong currency, then why is the Japanese n Chinese currencies weak against the other major currencies like the dollar Euro n pound sterling?

On the other hand the only way to run a refinery is by allowing the refinery to sell fuel at a price that would earn it a profit that would enable it pay production costs.

That's why Ghana and Niger have working refineries

Having the government subsidies petrol leads to bad refineries and corruptions galore. As seen in Venezuela and Nigeria . And massive debt. As seen in Iran.

Nothing comes for cheap
Why is garri cheap?

Why does Saudi have cheap fuel and Libya too. Also US and China

Even Trump said the only way to reduce inflation is to have cheap fuel/energy
