People don't realise how easy it is to buy useless cars these days. Lots of cars be looking sharp until you finish paying and put it through it's pace on your way home. As a first-time car buyer, here’s some advice to consider:

If you can afford to fuel and maintain a Lexus ES350, you can equally manage a Mercedes Benz C300 (W204), W164 ML350, or X204 GLK350. Mercedes Benz vehicles are not as expensive or difficult to maintain as some mechanics or inexperienced owners might suggest.

Feel free to go for models like the GLK, ML, GLE, C300, or E350, but keep in mind that Mercedes Benz cars require proper maintenance. Neglect and abuse can lead to costly issues.

Alternatively, you can choose reliable options like the Honda Accord, CR-V, Civic, or Toyota Highlander, Camry, Avalon, Venza, Hilux, and RAV4. Lexus models such as the ES330, ES350, RX330, RX350, GX460, and GX470 are also excellent choices.

If considering Hyundai Sonata or Santa Fe, prioritize vehicles with very low mileage to avoid engine problems caused by carbon buildup on the intake valves.

Avoid Nigerian-used cars unless they’ve only been driven for a few months or you know the previous owner’s history.

Choose a car that complements your personality and enhances your image. For instance, an IS250/350 might not be ideal if you're aiming to secure contracts with companies or government agencies; options like the Lexus ES350, Avalon, Camry, Accord, GLE, or ML350 are more suitable.

Always conduct thorough checks and a pre-purchase computerized inspection to avoid ending up with a problematic car.
