If all state where forced to build a power plant at 700megawatts each we won't be having problems there will be jobs all around the country. But because some people want to sell generators we all should suffer. They know how to buy the best cars in the north and use planes to get it delivered to them but can't invest in basic infrastructures.

Even while Lagos was being used as capital before 1991 relocation to Abuja, since Shagari era, there is no any major developmental plan apart from the completion of 3rd Mainland Bridge.

Why do the politicians always make us feel like Nigeria's problems are insurmountable? Just a little change (s) in our archaic laws will bring us back to right path, but no, instead of building a strong, efficient and beneficial laws and institutions, we keep on building influential individuals bereft of efficient ideas.

There is the problem of cost. When efficiently run, the national grid would have ensured cheap power. Or relatively cheap power. These present reforms are yet to materialize fully and we are yet to see their own problems.

There was no existing law on deregulation of electricity in nigeria at that time so no need to blame obj at that time.

Building a generation station is easy. It only cost money as far as a state is concerned. The real work is building a grid.
OBJ has exclusive control over the grid as far as the law was concerned. So you can't blame him for protecting his turf after all, he built 10 generating plants and Akwa Ibom benefitted from it as well

Nigeria built kainji dam not a sub-national, unlike the case with Akwa-Ibom that built their own power plant! Nigeria has gained more than enough from Akwa-Ibom based on the free oyel and gas they're taking from the state! They should have left the state to enjoy its power plant in peace!

That governor is not wise (not offense intended). If he was a wise man, before starting the project, he would meet Obasanjo and propose his state giving 20% power to the national grid and keeping 80% in Akwa Ibom.
The moment OBj agrees, he will get his Federal Power Minister to sign the agreement.

Afterwards, build your power station and give your people power. What Akwa Ibom gave Nigeria is immaterial. The law is the law, and it doesn't care about human emotions - like those of bunch of people quoting me up and down because of my comment. This is called a win-win deal.

That’s a recent modification to the law. It wasn’t there during obj.

Do you know how many indigenes list their lands while the dam was being constructed? Even the original Bussa had to go

That time 1999 / 2000, he was not Kaduna Governor. He was DG of BPE. Moreover, there is always suspicion about moves in South West. Awolowo Group from time immemorial have Four Cardinal points which also resurrected heavily during NADECO struggle under Pa Abraham Adesanya leadership which is true Federalism which includes fiscal federalism and Resource Control. Any move creates suspicion. All the noise about Tax Reform Bill also have the fears of True Federalism.
