Because Buhari the nepotistic calamity ensured that 70% of EFCC staff are of Hausa-Fulani extraction
Hausas and Fulanis are used to taking every advantage the find in government. Others are always very hesitant especially when it comes to becoming a security agent. This is a factor why Northerners dominant the FG sectors.

The law of Self Defense states that you give only as much as you receive. You can’t shoot someone that slaps you or attacks you with a knife. It has to be equal and you only shoot WHEN SHOT AT to prove self defense. Let’s not be buoyed by what we watch on Tv. Moreover, the firearm was licensed to the Father and NOT THE SON. Firearms licenses are not transferable and the license states that it’s for “hunting” and not for domestic use so that License theory is in the toilet too. If I were the Doctor, I would’ve fired a warning shot and if I’m shot at, then I can do direct damage but the deed has been done. My condolences to all parties involved. I hope this fiasco doesn’t cause a rift between the Doctors association and the FG. The EFCC on the other hand need to do better in terms of training and retraining of their staff. This was an avoidable fracas.

While my sympathy goes to the family of the deceased, the unprofessional, arrogant behavior of some security agents, especially Fulani folks while operating in Igboland deserves condemnation.
Also, the thread is a dog whistle tribalism. Does every sad incident like this publish tribal names?

Eiyaa

But these security operatives should be trained to handle these types of cases in a professional manner. Maybe the suspect couldn't have shot him if he knew they were EFCC operators whom we know they (fraudsters) are not even afraid of because they will get out quickly due to the corrupt Nigerian system.

He may have resorted to defending himself if he thinks these are more dangerous criminals like kidnappers or armed robbers. The way EFCC will barge into homes without due protocols like arrest warrants, identifying themselves and giving the suspects enough proof to know who they are before jumping over fences and kicking doors down is dangerous for everyone.

In the southern part of Nigeria, some people are so overzealous about crime fighting that they lose their senses in the process. Things they will not attempt in other places, they rush to do because they are already operating with a flawed mindset.

Crime is bad, let's fight it with professionalism.

With recent cult killings in Awka and kidnappings in Anambra State while the state government stand aloof, the EFCC officials gambled with their lives breaking into someone's house in the middle of the night. Something like this must happen before they get sense. Because some people identify as EFCC officials doesn't mean they are legit. Armed robbers/kidnappers are known to wear police and military uniforms sometimes

Are we supposed to feel sorry for him.

EFCC should first provide invitation sent to the young man.

Court order served him for not honouring investigation.

Warrant of arrest.

Information served to local police force for raiding.

Backup and reinforcement plans.

EFCC needs to be reminded that they mean economic and financial crime commission.
.

As far as am concerned that guy killed himself and his colleague that went with him needs to be arrested.

The EFCC deserves to be taken to court by the family for that disastrous operation.

" They arrived at the General Hospital in Awka but there were no doctors. Only two hospital nurses were around who advised them to look for a private hospital," the top source had narrated further. "

A whole general hospital and no doctor is on duty...it is well with Nigeria.

Re: EFCC operative, Halisu Sahabi killed during Awka raid, buried in Sokoto - SR by seunjungle1(m): 10:46pm On Jan 18, 2025
All happened because of the bad system we are operating

ArcFresky:
It’s the tragedy of Nigeria.
Illegality upon illegality.

EFCC raid a suspect, like thieves in the night, with no safety gear, no warrant.

Suspect shoots without thinking, with an illegal gun.

Operative gets rushed to hospital, no doctor. A whole govt hospital, 0 doctors and 2 nurses?

This version of the law was drafted in your village square probably. Mere difference in size or numbers even if he or they are not armed absolutely allowed lethal force in self defence.

What is the purpose of this commando style of arrest in the middle of the night if not pure arrogance.
This doctor may get out of this case without scratches if his family gets a good lawyer.
Well, they may charge him for illegal possession of firearm since the gun wasn't licenced to him but to his father

You destroy properties and doors and don't care what it will cost the victim to fix them again. See am now over zealous man with plenty energy to carry out wickedness on people he perceived he can bully don go collect for chest and no hospital had the capacity to help him,Nigeria happened to him..he probably supported bad leaders into power thinking he gets money as efcc so nothing de sub not knowing karma fvcks harder than a horney dog.
