I expected this a long time. The high handedness by the EFCC Officials towards the youth will continue to make them a target of attacks too. When they arrest Yaya Bello, he was walking freely but when they approach young faceless Nigerians, they break down doors, beat, steal, harass and do all sorts. I know that more of such will still happen in future. Treat others as you would want to be treated.

More deaths to uncivilized crooks called EFCC wrecking havoc in peoples home at d middle of the night...

There are more than a million ways to die daily in Nigeria.
*An officer without a bullet proof vest during operation is already dead, if he/she survives the operation, he may not survive the next.
*He was shot and there was no doctor in a general hospital to handle his case.😕
Me: Why will I go for such operation and I will be at the front to be blowing people's house open. Make the Oga at the top lead by example jare. Kai...
Rest in peace to him. May God give him a merciful judgment.

He acted in self defense but threw out the gun and went into the ceiling to hide ! Dey play ! When EFCC was breaking into his home , did they fire any bullet at him ? They even identified themselves as EFCC operatives. He will be lucky to get life imprisonment. He murdered a federal operative and attempted to murder another federal operative. He may not escape the death penalty.
Na your papa go be the judge? Nope. .EFCC with no warrant of arrest? Kidnappers can claim EFCC as well. Not an easy case for EFCC

Why would they break into his home in the middle of the night?

GO+AT you've never faced danger before, you've not had adrenaline pumping through ur veins at night when ppl come for ur life plus I give him kudos, he defended his home. Cowards like 7ou cant even pull a trigger, you'll know a human being that have never been through the horrors of life when they talk.
Let me guess.... you're hiding under your bed tomorrow In your wife's skirts ?

Cowards. And you wonder why your women desperately chase Yoruba men because of higher testosterone.

What does adrenaline have to do with fleeing and hiding like an ekuke dog ?

COMRADES, these fraudsters are bold, how can you shot and kill an EFCC official and go scot free?
I no won comment but seems you don't get it.

If you follow anamba and awka news closely you will notice the trend on unknown gunmen and cult related killings. In that kind of state operatives are expected to thread with caution and even undergoes additional training in relation to their environment like : hostage negotiations, proper identification in hostile environment etc.

You can't come to a volatile environment and shout "I am efcc " and start breaking door BCS those unknown gunmen must have used all those tricks to take high ranking individuals resistance will come some day.

Best practice would have been (mostly to arrest someone behind a barricade and in volatile environment)

A: come in daylight
B: surround the area (using armed department) and making sure your logo etc are visible on your vehicles and PPE
C: use a public address system to identify your self
D: find means to pass your warrant to the the person's behind the barricade.
E: read their rights to them and allow them contact their lawyers or family members to know where to come pick them.
F: when all fails your arms team can then charge.

I will bet you anything you want that 90% of people living in volatile state/environment most especially responsible ones and with family will not open their doors if you come in darkness and start shouting you are this and that it's in human nature to get defensive when all else fails even in fear

For instance

Even if he was a yahoo boy....is breaking down his house door at night...a justified thing to do?..

Awka is a terrible and unsafe place at this time....kidnappers can pose to be army officers to you....

They need to first prove that the shooter truly knew they were efcc officers and was evading arrest.

Plus...why go arrest the young man without at least going with the local policemen... you can always report and punish the local police officers if they jeopardise the operation afterall
Even we Yoruba support the Dr.

I'm on the side of the culprit, because in
this our current Nigeria 🇳🇬, you can't just
open door to strangers at midnight who are
claiming to be law enforcement agents..

Many times, people have fallen into hands of
bandits and kidnappers wearing soldiers or
police uniforms.

But these security operatives should be trained to handle these types of cases in a professional manner. Maybe the suspect couldn't have shot him if he knew they were EFCC operators whom we know they (fraudsters) are not even afraid of because they will get out quickly due to the corrupt Nigerian system.

He may have resorted to defending himself if he thinks these are more dangerous criminals like kidnappers or armed robbers. The way EFCC will barge into homes without due protocols like arrest warrants, identifying themselves and giving the suspects enough proof to know who they are before jumping over fences and kicking doors down is dangerous for everyone.

In the southern part of Nigeria, some people are so overzealous about crime fighting that they lose their senses in the process. Things they will not attempt in other places, they rush to do because they are already operating with a flawed mindset.

Crime is bad, let's fight it with professionalism.

After shooting and killing the EFCC operative he threw out the gun, a short pump action gun owned and licenced by his father into the bush.

"He hid at first in his ceiling and then crawled to his neighbour’s ceiling from where the police arrested and detained him."

"His father went to the police station to state and support his position that he killed in self-defence.

"All the EFCC operatives dispatched for the night operation had no bulletproof vest. They just wore their branded EFCC jackets."

🖕🏼

How can you burst into people's home in a commando style without bullet proofs and expect them to stay docile and watch you wreck havoc that's impossible

The guy acted on Self defense if I must say
Exactly he acted based on self defense. Watch out what will happen, he will be discharged and acquitted after his long travail in awaiting trial prison

Have they not asked them to stop all this mid night raid. I don't care if you are Efcc or any organisation if you can't show your face in the morning or day light accept whatever happens to you. Anyone can come at midnight jumping fence claiming Efcc.

The guy is not a fraudster.
The operatives are totally wrong.
Their armed robbery model of raiding is archaic and unprofessional.
Investigation will prove that there's no economic crime committed by the doctor. So why raid his house in a manner that he is prompted to defend himself?

EFCC raid a suspect, like thieves in the night, with no safety gear, no warrant.

Suspect shoots without thinking, with an illegal gun.

the funny part is trying to use media to brand a medical doctor practising his profession as a yahoo boy to suit the narrative. yes it seems the EFCC Buffon has small family backing, but let's see how long this nonsense narrative lasts
no RIP TO WASTE HERE
The doctor self na Big Person na , it looks like he's from a rich Family, they lost the case already, you heard where they said the Father made report that it was an act of self defense.

They arrived Awka very early to the first home of suspected fraudsters, successfully raided and arrested several persons with exhibits, including credit cards and four luxurious vehicles,

They then set out to visit another location but reportedly found that they were short-staffed and relocated to a smaller location.

When the EFCC operatives arrested the first set of suspected "yahoo boys" the police in Awka waylaid them and delayed the operatives, claiming they did not seek permission before coming to their jurisdiction to carry out such operation

They then set out to visit another location but reportedly found that they were short-staffed and relocated to a smaller location.

Upon arriving there, it was a location with several apartments. So they told the gatemen to point them to the place of the person they suspected.

He refused to open his door, apparently suspecting they might be robbers or kidnappers.

The EFCC team proceeded to break into his apartment and the suspect opened fire on the lead person; an EFCC operative known as Salisu.
Are we living in a jungle? Don't citizens have any rights in this country any more? Even under military regimes, it was never this bad, where security officials raid a whole estate or neighbourhood breaking people's gates, fences and doors, and branding them criminals without any court order or arrest warrant.
What is the NBA doing about this blatant abuse of citizens rights? What are civil society organisations doing? Even the courts seems complacent or even accomplice in human rights abuses of Nigerians.

A medical doctor-cum-yahoo boy?

I hope they didn't mistake their suspect. And even if he's truly not a saint, he must have taken their raid for robbery because a medical doctor wouldn't intentionally shoot at EFCC operatives.
The suspect could be a Medical doctor but due to the illegal way they tried to enter the house, they are now trying to paint him as a fraudster to save face for their ineptitude.

I have thought about this over and over again ,I wish arms was legalized in Nigeria ,some people head for correct on auto ,you kick someone’s door in a volatile environment and expect not to be attacked ,I will still say it ,you try that with me ,you are getting boiled oil all over your skin with knife cuts instantly…one has to defend themselves this days since government ain’t doing much …was in the guys shoes ,I will blast everything that comes through that door each and everyone I swear

The were after soft targets that were not expected to have guns or put up any defence. Nigerian security operatives apart from the Nigerian army would never attack terrorists, drug cartels or violent criminals in such manner.
