The bill is called "divestiture bill"

That he wanted to ban Tiktok then doesn't mean he actually wanted to go through with it, could have been a ploy to get more control of the app with such a threat.

He didn't even sign the so called bill, so how can you claim he enacted it or does enact mean something else to you?

Lastly, we don't need the back and forth, after tomorrow, we shall see.

All in all, Titktok is worldwide, US banning it or not doesn't stop it's usage.

Even Americans are already finding means to still access it because it's of a great benefit to an average American.
TikTok's value will plummet if it's banned in the US, because of the enormous economic influence of the US. just look at what happened to Napster...
If the US government discovers that users are circumventing the ban, they may implement stringent measures, such as firewalls, to restrict all access to the app.

It would have been better to ban it in Nigeria, along with other social media platforms, to help our children focus on their studies. Social media is having a detrimental effect on our youth. We may not always notice it, but when you take a closer look, you'll understand.
Many people and businesses are using it to make income. Take phones away from your children, why giving phones to your children in the first place?
You said children, then you said youths. Do you even know the difference the two?
You are criticising social media apps in 21st century instead of looking into the area of moderation.

But we all know China is a communist,is US now a communist country too?
The platform is a national security threat to USA. The ceo of tiktok or bytedance- the parent company cannot say no to Chinese CCP if they demand for American data stored in his server.
Otherwise their families will disappear.

The elites use these platforms to divert youths attention on mundane stuffs while they pamper and loot the national treasury to their satisfaction. The painful thing is that their children also come and rule and the circle continues.

Many of you are missing the point cococandy was trying to make, it doesn’t matter whether Trump signed the bill or not, this banning idea was initiated by Trump and now the same Trump is acting like a nice guy who wants to sort things out.
Leave them. Let them keep being willfully obtuse.

This sounds like something that is happening in Nigeria.

Like,, Trump as a person is going to bring lots of changes...

And Not the “American President” as a systematic process.

China is playing their own games with them and if they don't take time he will defeat them at it.

But bro, it's inevitable, the US won't be the world super power forever

I know it's hard to even think of it,but thats what it is,did you think the Brits didnt want to be the greatest empire on earth forever?
But when the time comes , the combination of internal implosion and external factors will make it falter and if care is not take , have a really big and heavy fall.
Although the US, like all empires, will eventually decline, it has a responsibility to promote its core values until then. When the time comes for another nation to rise, so that the values of freedom and democracy will endure, just as they were passed from the British to the Americans.
Or do you think ISLAMISM or COMMUNISM could potentially supplant DEMOCRACY?

Tiktok will never find salvation under Trump's presidency. Its promotion of Islamism and opposition to Western values are significant concerns. Interestingly, China has banned the app within its borders, citing similar worries about islamism and protectionism. China wants to use the app to tackle and undermine Western values in the US while preventing it in its own territory. I'd advise Trump to consider imposing sanctions on any Western nation that permits the tiktok app within its territory.
You hit the nail on the head. The role of China in all these is why Trump would never reinstate tiktok. The Chinese banned American social media but want free access to the American space using it's tiktok. It poses serious financial and security concerns for the US and there's no way on earth that Trump is gonna allow that.

Nothing like a national security threat about Tiktok. So are you telling me American government don't have details of their citizens? Same lies they used to arrest the Telegram owner in Paris.

Their problem is simple, once they cannot control you they try to bring you down.

App has done more damage than good in some cases, so the ban will definitely have positive effects on society, the extent to which I can't say. FB, YT, and Instagram were still the most used SM apps in the US in 2024 despite the presence of Tiktok, so I doubt Tiktok will be missed much.
What damage exactly?

TikTok is not a Chinese app. See who’s talking of ignorance. TikTok is even banned in China. It’s a Singaporean owned and run company. With an office in China.
When I say you're an ignoramus, I mean it because you're not just an ignoramus, but a chronic ignoramus for that matter. Bytedance owns Tiktok. Is Bytedance not a Chinese company?

Two, to force Americans back to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and others. But their people have already flooded another Chinese owned app called Rednote, similar to tiktok. And one of their senators already said that they are going ban that too

China don't allow Facebook, Instagram and others too. It mainly for security reasons. These apps tend to monitor a lot of things thereby exposing and putting the lives of people in danger . China won't allow US apps same way America won't allow Chinese apps. I don't want to talk about Nigeria, cos anything wey pass by we dey use . We are a consuming nation. We get excited at any new development without thinking about the insecurity.

What type of damage? Was it only USA that tiktok was being used? You even said that it was not most used app in USA in 2024, right? If the owner has bent under the pressure to sell the app to American entrepreneurs, you wouldn't be saying this nonsense.
Did you even have an idea how many Americans and American businesses making money on the app? And the good things American citizens were using the app to do like raising money for the needy?
