What is he and why did EFCC visit his apartment?
So EFCC busting his apartment automatically makes him a yahoo boy?
Just imagine the kind of useless mentality you have. Don't you read the news, even of cases where innocent people are arrested in this country?

This is really a very interesting case let's see how it's going to end up with a good lawyer the doctor can get just a few years in jail instead of a death sentence. Hope this will teach efcc operatives some lessons breaking into the homes of nigerians like armed robbers without any court warrant at midnight is not professional it only makes the efcc looks very primitive.

GloriousGbola:
simple question has the corpse of the officer been flown to sokoto for burial?
if so - at whose cost - on whose budget?

also why is a corpse involved in a criminal case buried rather than autopsied as this is now an official criminal case?

let everyone come out with their own version of events
@GloriousGbola,

Those are fundamental questions you asked right there. He has been buried already. It's definitely the EFCC's duty to do all that explaining of flight and burial costs.

But then again, since the young EFCC operative who got killed is a Muslim from Sokoto State, he had to be buried the same day. Based off of my years of knowledge of Islam, they don't believe in autopsy. Once there is NO sign of life, the body is buried the same day in a shroud at a cheap cost.

My major problem here is the FALSE inclusion of the name of the Chief-of-Army-Staff in this tardy publication. It's very unprofessional of Omoyele to publish that FAKE news without proper verification from Army HQ. Many times, Omoyele has come out to APOLOGIZE for publishing misleading information through his online Website. How long are we gonna continue with that kind of behavior after originally misleading the public?

Aside from the fact that I liked Omoyele Sowore because of his active student union activism back in UNILAG in the late 1980s through to the 1990s that nearly got him killed after he was injected with an unknown substance by a campus gang, I used to read Omoyele's SaharaReporters for credible information back in the 2000s and 2010s, but it has now gone to the dogs within the last 5 years. Peoples Gazette is an even WORSE online publication than SaharaReporters.

in saner societies, security operatives seek for search warrants before they enter any premises, but in Nigeria, any security uniform represent the law even it's a vigilante uniform.

the funny part is trying to use media to brand a medical doctor practising his profession as a yahoo boy to suit the narrative. yes it seems the EFCC Buffon has small family backing, but let's see how long this nonsense narrative lasts
no RIP TO WASTE HERE
The young doctor has a good case if he has a good lawyer he is also very lucky the gun was licensed.

A Medical Doctor k!lled EFCC officer in Anambra not Yahoo boys… said that he thought they were kidnappers

It was a Medical Doctor that killed an EFCC officer when they came like armed robbers in the middle of the night at a time the state was faced with insecurity and the man reacted in safe defence probably thinking they were robbers.

The man involved is a medical doctor with no ties to illegal activities. The pump-action gun he used was reportedly licensed. Normally, before the EFCC operates in any area, they are required to notify the local police. Unfortunately, this protocol was not followed during their operation in Awka that night.

When the doctor called to confirm whether the relevant security agencies were aware of the EFCC’s presence, he was informed that they were not. Believing he was confronted by kidnappers and acting out of self-defense, he fired when they broke into his apartment at midnight. Regrettably, two EFCC operatives were injured in the process. Upon realizing they were from the EFCC, he immediately dropped the weapon.

Meanwhile, the EFCC’s actions in Anambra have raised concerns. Initially, they attempted a raid in a particular area but were intercepted by the police, who were unaware of their operation. According to the EFCC, due to a shortage of personnel, they altered their plans and proceeded to raid a smaller location. They forcibly entered the estate and targeted apartments based on the types of cars parked outside, using them as indicators for which units to search. This raises the question: how did operatives from the EFCC’s Enugu zonal office go to Anambra amid ongoing insecurity in the state without informing the local police, especially while facing a shortage of manpower?

It is so unfortunate that we lost a staff of the commission, but this call for new strategy. I don’t buy into EFCC entering an apartment like criminals.

The went to media with story of Yahoo boys shooting EFCC operatives because they can’t defend mode of their operation in Awka that night.
EFCC should conduct investigation before invitation or even arrest.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission should change their strategies to reflect intelligence!

PLEASE, ALWAYS READ TO CONPREHEND!!

Didn't you see the portion of the article that said the gun was licensed to the father and the father even went to the station to claim that the son acted in self defense. So how is the gun illegal.

Come to Anambra and see how security operatives burst into people's homes in the middle of the night like thieves. They use hammer and metal cutters to cut keys and iron protectors after scaling fences. People have been complaining bitterly about this type of operation on radio station programs. How do you differentiate them from thieves.

You are wrong.Breaking and entering people's houses at night without a search warrant is illegal. Nobody is above the law in Nigeria, whether police, army or EFCC.The fact that you are a federal agent does not make you above the law.Your actions as a federal agent must be within the ambits of the law.If you try to break into another person 's house at night, you are engaging in an act of violence against that person and the person is entitled to self defence.
Olu1000:
The EFCC carrying out a raid at night and breaking into the defendant’s home does not give the defendant the right to shoot and kill EFCC agents.EFCC agents are federal law enforcement agents. It could have been Police or Army carrying out that raid. Moreover nobody shot at the defendant. How is it self defense when nobody shot at him ? EFCC agents breaking into the home at night is not illegal and the EFCC is constitutional agency. Some rogue governors tried to get the Supreme Court to declare EFCC unconstitutional but failed. There is nothing like self defense in that incident. Its a case of an alleged yahoo doctor who has a personal vandetta against the EFCC.

There's still so much to be unravelled from this story. It's poorly cooked and vital details are missing.

No medical doctor will engage in Yahoo business and I know for sure that many professionals keep licensed guns for protection as they are a subject of kidnapping fur huge sums of ransom. Even priests keep guns for protection especially in the North and it didn't start today

The EFCC on their part should engage in more professional ways of apprehending suspects. Whatever th offence the person is still a suspect under ethe laws till proven guilty so why go with guns and live ammunition to arrest alleged suspects ? Breaking down the door is very unprofessional and more still the police within the justification they cameto we're not informed of the sting operation. That's flouting basic procedures and operational chain of communication.

May the soul of the departed rest in peace.

We'll hear more in the coming days

You are funny ! So beacause the gun is legal and licensed he can shoot whenever he likes once he feels he is threatened? Even after the operatives identified themselves as EFCC agents. Why did he throw out the gun and hide in the ceiling after killing the agents? If it was actually self defense, why did he not come out and own up to his actions immediately? So because you feel threatened you can shoot at anyone even after they identify themselves as federal law enforcement agents? Common now !
Keep going about this news spewing trash. What are you expecting when you are breaking into someone's home in the middle of the night. The policemen who allegedly stopped some efcc men earlier don't know what they are doing abi? Are they not federal forces too?

EFCC should be totally banned from Night raids.

Their mandate is Financial and Economic crimes. It does not require busting into someone's home at 4 am.

For capital crimes. Yes. Police can do that for murder and huge drug related offences, but not EFCC.

Very good, more people need to the get licensed guns. If I had a home with my family and you break in in the dead of the night because you saw Benz and lexus outside you will get shot at.

There is so much insecurity in Nigeria, in Anambra kidnappers wear EFCC vest to kidnap their victims, and they have no problem because EFCC acts unprofessionally.

No search warrant, no arrest warrant, no complaints, you don't even know the occupant or what he looks like, you don't know if it's a single woman who lives there. You just break in and start beating people before identifying yourself.

Nothing will stop me from owning a licensed gun if I have my own house, I'll shoot anyone who breaks in without reasonable cause.

But these security operatives should be trained to handle these types of cases in a professional manner. Maybe the suspect couldn't have shot him if he knew they were EFCC operators whom we know they (fraudsters) are not even afraid of because they will get out quickly due to the corrupt Nigerian system.

He may have resorted to defending himself if he thinks these are more dangerous criminals like kidnappers or armed robbers. The way EFCC will barge into homes without due protocols like arrest warrants, identifying themselves and giving the suspects enough proof to know who they are before jumping over fences and kicking doors down is dangerous for everyone.

In the southern part of Nigeria, some people are so overzealous about crime fighting that they lose their senses in the process. Things they will not attempt in other places, they rush to do because they are already operating with a flawed mindset.

Crime is bad, let's fight it with professionalism.
The so-called suspect is justified, acting in self-defense.
He did what I would call, 'Stand Your Ground'.
EFCC should learn to behave like professionals rather than animals.
Anyway, let the bad belle people wait while I search where I kept my RIP.
