This is really a very interesting case let's see how it's going to end up with a good lawyer the doctor can get just a few years in jail instead of a death sentence. Hope this will teach efcc operatives some lessons breaking into the homes of nigerians like armed robbers without any court warrant at midnight is not professional it only makes the efcc looks very primitive.
Why will he get a few years in jail? What crime did the doctor commit according to our statutes? Strange People without notice broke down down his door in the middle of the night and gained unauthorised access into his family home, and he had access to a gun. What would you have done in his place.

The only crime he can be charged with is having an unauthorised gun, which he claimed was registered by his father. The issue then becomes what the gun is doing in his house.

The doctor might well have used a knife or poured acid on the intruders if those are the items available to him at that particular time, and he would have been justified.

PLEASE, ALWAYS READ TO CONPREHEND!!

Didn't you see the portion of the article that said the gun was licensed to the father and the father even went to the station to claim that the son acted in self defense. So how is the gun illegal.
😂😂😂😂, gun licenses are not inherited.

Or does your father owning a driving license, license you to drive his car?

Keep going about this news spewing trash. What are you expecting when you are breaking into someone's home in the middle of the night. The policemen who allegedly stopped some efcc men earlier don't know what they are doing abi? Are they not federal forces too?
Police cannot stop EFCC from performing their duty.EFCC do not have to take clearance from the police to carry out their constitutional duty. The police may be protecting yahoo boys in that particular locality.

Wait. These fooools will attack homes late in the night like robbers under the guise of arresting yahoo boys, and expect residents to fold their arms and not respond? What fvckery is this?!

When you finished ranting go and act like the efcc operatives and meet your waterloo. Call a spade a spade.
EFCC do a bit too much & some of their raids are a bit unconventional but that does not make their operations illegal. The issue is Yahoo boys like you who are on a vandetta against EFCC think everyone else should share your delusion which is not possible.I wish the alleged yahoo doctor all the best in court.

You actually have a point here the offence the court might find him guilty of is using a gun that's not licensed under his name him and his father are two different personalities.

These are the grey areas or should I say cloudy areas in the constitution. Is the EFCC a law unto itself? Can the EFCC outside the control of the police, the judiciary and the state governor who is supposed to be the chief security officer of the state? If so then are all other security agencies, ie NDLEA, Civil defence, DSS, etc, laws unto themselves with no control from any other body?
In the US, the federal police must inform the state and sometimes local police before operations and arrests can be carried out, and with valid court order.

That you find going from house to house in the middle of the night, breaking down doors looking for Yahoo boys, and without just cause or court warrant as legal is shocking to me.

Your bias against EFCC and their modus operandi does not make EFCC illegal. Some Yahoo governors approached the Supreme Court to declare EFCC unconstitutional but the Supreme Court declined.EFCC is a constitutional law enforcement agency and cannot be dictated to as to how they will operate. The officers identified themselves to the alleged Yahoo doctor and they did not fire at him so self defense will certainly not fly in a law court. Moreover him hiding after killing the officer means he was aware of the consequences of his actions and tried to evade arrest. Only a yahoo judge will look at the evidence and think it’s a case of self defense.
You are just running around this thread like a mad man spewing rubbish.

That they are efcc or what ever does not give them the right to break into peoples houses like thieves.

That those killed doesn’t are federal agents does not mean they will win the case.

That he threw away the gun and hid in the ceiling does not mean shit.

Did you read that they had stopped them from night raids and breaking into peoples houses like armed robbers?
If it was normal, why did they stop them from doing that?

It’s the tragedy of Nigeria.
Illegality upon illegality.

EFCC raid a suspect, like thieves in the night, with no safety gear, no warrant.

Suspect shoots without thinking, with an illegal gun. (Illegal because it was licensed to his father, not him)

Operative gets rushed to hospital, no doctor. A whole govt hospital, 0 doctors and 2 nurses?
As long as the Gun was licensed, it was meant for the safety of the home. If the son had used the gun outside the house then it becomes suspicious

Fulani herdsmen and armed robbers don't have any....whether personal or communal...yet they roam free and the police don't dare bump into their operations.

EFCC has been told to operate in a more decent manner.

From this story, their procedure was untoward, and a good lawyer will get the arrested man out.

It sounded like self-defense.

All I can deduct from the story is that there are lesser doctors than efcc's or vice-versa.

I wonder why the colleagues of the slain officer did not shoot to kill the doctor after seeing their colleague had been shot and another wounded. If I was among the team that doctor must pay with his own life.

nothing at stake,

This is the reason Nigerians clamour for state police or local vigilantees
they know the terrain, they know the people, they have a stake in that society

1. Why was the police in Awka not carried along in the raid?
2. Why were the operatives so unprofessional in discharging their duties that they broke into someone's home in the night like criminals.

3. Why should the young man be in possession of a gun licensed by his father?
4. If he truly acted in self defense as he claimed, he should have been proud of himself so, why did he throw away the gun after shooting?
6. Why were the operatives dispatched for an operation with bulletproof vest?
5. Why was there no single doctor in a whole General hospital?
