A child trafficking syndicate that specializes in stealing children from Ondo and Osun States have been arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Police Command.

The suspects, Lukman Isiaka, 43; Abosede Olanipekun, 23; and Sabira Izuorah, 68, were apprehended with no fewer than 14 babies and toddlers that had been trafficked to Anambra State since 2023.

The babies and toddlers were recovered from the ‘orphanage’ of Izuorah in Ihiala, Anambra State, where they were trafficked to by Lukman and Abosede, who are both a couple.

Among the stolen babies were three weeks old, two weeks old, and two months old, among others.

While being paraded at the police headquarters in Akure, Izuorah, who claimed to have retired as a Director from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Anambra State, admitted to having received the children from the couple.

“Lukman and his wife brought a total of 11 children to me. I don’t pay them; it is the adoptive parents that pay them. The adoptive parents don’t pay me; they give us food items and supplies.

“I stopped Lukman and his wife from bringing children for me in November, 2024. All the children were no longer with me, but I went to recover them from their adoptive parents. It didn’t start with me, and it will not end with me.”

On his part, Lukman, stated that Izuorah introduced him and his wife to the illicit trade when he left Ondo State to work in Anambra as a bricklayer.

According to him, Izuorah always pays him N500,000 per child, which she in turn sells to her prospective buyers for N1 million and above.

“I have been stealing children since 2023. I have given a total of 11 children to Izuorah. The method my wife and I use to steal the children is when we are going, and we see any child roaming about, we now call them that we will buy soft drinks and biscuits for them.

“She normally gives us N500,000 for each child that we bring to her. I met Izuorah when we went to Anambra to work. I’m a bricklayer. She was the one who introduced me to the business after training me, and since then I have been giving her children.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Wilfred Afolabi, stated that the arrested couple led the police operatives to Anambra State, where Izuorah was arrested and moved down to Akure.

“During interrogation, the suspects admitted to abducting the child and other children from Ondo and Osun States and selling them to Sabira Izuorah, ‘f,’ age 62 years, in Ihiala, Anambra State, at the rate of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000) per child.”

The caption is wrong. The caption mischievously presents Anambra as the only culprit here. As a matter of fact, the people that stole and sold the babies are Ondo people. I don't mean to say that Anambra people are not involved in the crime. My point is that the caption is mischievous.

The caption should be:
"Babies stolen from Ondo by Ondo People Recovered from Anambra People in Anambra".

Or, " Babies Stolen in Ondo Found in Anambra"

Facts of this matter

1. No parents reported that their children were stolen from Ondo and Osun states.

2. The economic situation may have made their parents abandon them for criminals to steal.

3. The woman in Anambra is claiming to run an orphanage, does she have documents to prove this, or is she just another criminal in partnership with the ones from Ondo.

4. That hungry children roamimg the streets in the SW are being bought by criminals in Anambra, while their brothers online is claiming that SE people are flocking their place for economic reasons.

Seems you don't know Yorubads, they're always against Igbos and always loon for reasons to vilify them.

Since the police have clamped down on baby factories in the east the .Adam that runs the orphanage then decides to source for babies in other states to keep her business running.

Have you ever wondered why orphanages don't allow people to adopt children in hair care.
Try to adopt and see the game the will use you to play and you begin to wonder what's happening with these orphanages that they don't want people that are well to do to adopt.

Well sha the more children orphanages have the more money they can get from do ors abroad and wha is an orphanage without children. Government should beam their search light on this orphanage business and people will be shocked.

The remaining 75% were trafficked at birth.

45% are stolen Fulani babies (which is why most are fair) while the remaining 30% are Yoruba babies.

Ironically, the two tribes are those they hate the most.

This is the first time that I'm seeing two alleged people who are NOT Igbos getting involved in this crime of stealing children for sale for decades now. Based on crime data available to me, it has always been highly notorious male and female members of criminal cartels from the East of Nigeria (especially in Anambra and Imo States) that have been physically stealing children FROM their parents in all parts of Nigeria (including Igbo children living in the West, South of South and North of Nigeria). It's CLEARLY evident that a fairly new recruitment tactic by these criminal cartels is taking place right now using people indigenous to an area to steal children in order to reduce suspicion.

This case MUST be investigated properly to ensure that these criminal cartels with deep roots in Igboland are disrupted and brought to justice. In China, and some ruthless countries, these kinds of crimes such as kidnappings of women and children for sale as sex slaves or child labor, gang rapes, drug trafficking, ritual murders, homicides, financial crimes, etc, are punishable with death to serve as a deterant! I have stated consistently for years that MOST Nigerian politicians and lawmakers over the years are totally GUILTY of fueling and enabling these crimes seen today because they have refused to make stiffer laws and the LAME Governors since 1999 have ALSO refused to sign the death warrants of those who the courts have sentenced to death except the former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomole who was brave enough to sign the death warrants. It's a well-known fact worldwide that 70% of ALL crimes are committed by repeat offenders (rate of recidivism). Tbh, the country called Nigeria is indeed acting out like an underachieving country and needs a major reset from a focused politician who has the attributes of a "benevolent dictator" as first stated by the technocrat and politician, Chief Olu Falae!
