I have been diagnosed of hypertension lately..

It all started on the 6th I was having this feeling of I want to die, or fainting and all my body will be shaving I want to the hospital they check my bp it was 180/90. So the doctor admitted me and took sample of my blood and urine nd did test and the result came nd he said my kidney are doing okay that I have electrolytes imbalance they gave me six drip and prolong potassium capsule.

So last week I was having the same feeling again and the doctor said it anxiety and it call it fear of impending doom. It all in my head that I won’t die or faint that it not electrolyte imbalance causing it.. so since he told me it all in my head I hardly experience it

So Wednesday I went to hospital again nd the doctor said my Bp is still very high 160/90

He gave me some drugs for a night and said I will keep taking the drug forever.. I’m just 22

I don’t smoke or drink that much and I’m very slim and my parent are not hypertension so I don’t know why a 22 years old like me be suppressing from this disease

I’m very down : ever since he told me this I have been feeling bad nd thinking it this how I have lost my youth? I’m confused. I’ve been reading stuff about them online nd it scaring me….. since yesterday I have been down emotionally

Been thinking lots of stuff and I’m dead scared
Will I be Alright?? Should I be worried. Will I leave a normal life again.

Please I need yall Advice
I’m just experiencing different symptoms since
I can’t sleep at night no matter how hard I tried
The doctor is not even feeling sorry for me, he is just shouting u have anxiety and hypertension

I have been taking the drugs tho
Since I have been walking on earth I have never see any young adult or 22 have hypertension. It very rare oh
It mostly old adult of 50yrs upward

Sorry bro/sis, but hypertension is not a death sentence, and you have no reason at all to be scared of any complications from hypertension as long as you consistently adhere to your medication regimen.
Sorry about the whole ordeal, cheer up. It's just one of those things.

Hypertension is not a death sentence unless you don’t look after it.

Take your medications,think/worry less , go for regular checkups (you can get the kit and test yourself at home) and most importantly,pray.

You'll be alright. Don't go online looking for things that'll compound your anxieties - you will find tons of it.

Find things that'll distract you from your current worries..... Go out alone or with friends, play games.

Life happens to us all in different ways, and it's not about age.

I have being hypertensive for almost a decade now. Take hibiscus tea ( zobo leave) cook it without adding anything. Take it for two days and your BP would reduce dramatically.
Make sure you do check the BP while taking the zobo leave so that it wouldn't come down too much.

So sorry, you're too young for this.
Try to get a digital BP monitoring device to use st home. Ensure to use it frequently so that it doesn't rise and you don't know. It must NOT catch you unawares.

Don't miss your drugs and use only as instructed by your physician. Too much use could lead to another problem - hypotension.

Dietary modifications might also help. Avoid too much salt. Take fruits and vegetables. Garlic helps.

Engage in moderate exercises. Avoid smoking and avoid herbal concoctions. Don't ever try using viagra or any enhancers o!

Change your doctor.

Likely to be secondary hypertension.
Go to an FMC or Teaching Hospital and ask to be referred to a cardiologist or endocrinologist.

You may have conns disease .
In the meantime continue your antihypertensives but you MUST see a specialist.

First off you need to kill your previous assumptions and all the other ones on the thread
What were you doing leading up to the 6th ?
Whats your sex, height and weight ? This is very important
If you were treated for 'electrolyte imbalance' ... its several of not eating well, hydrating well, sleeping well etc.
You wouldn't necessarily need to take the drugs forever if you have no heart problems and if you fix whatever is stressing you.

Before concluding you have HBP .. monitor your heart readings daily for a few weeks. If they are still high do a comprehensive blood panel to rule out stress, weight, hormones and diet ? ... Lack of rest, being on the higher end of both/either sex hormones, too much iron, sodium etc can all manifest as HBP.
If you are a guy and you are apprehensive about taking BP meds even though you shouldn't. You can try low dose (2.5mg - 5mg) Tadalafil (Cialis) daily. Generic version is very cheap and there's the added benefit of helping erectile function and improving pump and vascularity if you work out.

Too much glucose is your problem, first try and cut down on all form of sugar, then do intermittent fasting with very mild exercise like trekking. In 2 weeks your BP would be normal. Thank me later

start with the zobo leave.
With it, you wouldn't need drugs anymore.
But don't take it blindly. Always monitor it more often because it's risky to be too low as well. I know someone whose BP rises to 200 but returned to 140 and even below few days after started taking the hibiscus tea. I know what I am saying. You will be fine

The root cause of your hypertension needs to be addressed. You are too young for this especially as you are not obese.

Meanwhile take your drugs so as to avoid complications like stroke that will make it worse.
