The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has downplayed the possibility of resolving his conflict with Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State.

Wike criticised Fubara and his camp for refusing to carry out the directive issued by President Bola Tinubu during the peace meeting he convened.

He noted that Fubara and his supporters should have returned to Tinubu to explain their inability to implement all the directives issued by the president.

Wike made this disclosure during a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday.

Wike and Fubara have been at loggerheads since Fubara became governor.

The face-off between the two stems from a struggle for control of the state’s political and structural resources.

The rift has also affected the state House of Assembly, with 27 members defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Furthermore, the conflict has led to the emergence of factional speakers and a parallel assembly.

At the press briefing, Wike said:

“I’m wondering, what conflict to resolve? Mr President, in his wisdom, called all parties. He said withdraw the impeachment notice, you go and do this, you go and do that, but they never returned to him.

“The Assembly withdrew the impeachment notice; you did one and two, and then you sent people to go to court. Elder, have you gone back to Mr President to tell him we can’t do three and four? Nothing.

“I have never seen this in my life — for a president to call parties, and one party goes back and says it’s political. Who does that?”

Wike is only telling half the truth about their feud. As a political analyst, I am of the position that Wike remains the problem. The earlier he realizes that Tinubu's template in Lagos CANNOT work in Rivers, the better for him and everyone.

TINUBU'S TEMPLATE IN RIVERS?
Tinubu groomed Ambode as Accountant General of Lagos State. A humble, respected and un-ambititios civil servant. Used him to achieve all sorts of financial deals. In return, made him governor. He single-handedly made Ambode governor for ONE-TERM. Tinubu denied Ambode a second term simply because he was not sure a second-term governor would support his presidential ambition. So, Ambode's crime was because Tinubu desired to contest 2023 elections, and with a second-term Ambode, baba was not sure Lagos would open her treasury for his campaign. Then what did he do, he checkmate Ambode and brought in a Sanwuolu, who because he would seek a second term would have no option than to do Tinubu's wish.

WIKE'S ATTEMPT
Having studied Tinubu's template and also based on their several meetings abroad, Wike decided to replicate Tinubu's template in Rivers.
Wike groomed Fubara, a humble and unambitiou Accountant (just like Ambode). Used him to amass wealth and SINGLE-HANDEDLY made him governor. His intent, just like Tinubu was to kick Fubara out in 2027, get a new governor, who would be a willing tool to bankroll his 2031 presidential ambition.

FUBARA VS AMBODE
A good accountant is an analyst. We use past trendss to forecast future events. What was successfully executed on Ambode would not be possible with a sound Accountant, that was where Wike failed. Hence, knowing how Ambide was used, Fubara became wiser and hence drew the first blood.

THE WAY FORWARD
Wike should just acknowledge that his attempt failed, retace his steps and unite Rivers PDP with Fubara as leader. I recommend that he pick a copy of "Who Moved My Cheese" and focus on his FCT ministerial role. What happened in Lagos cannot be replicated in Niger-Delta. He should ask Okowa about Agbele, his firmer Accountant General. Accountants may not be politicians, but they are VERY SMART. My advice to all those hanging around Wike is simple. Move on, the train has left Wike's station.

You want to use the president to intimidate a sitting governor. Even obj could not intimidate President bola Ahmed tinubu when he was president. See fubara has every right as a sitting governor of governor rivers state to do what suits him for the interest of the people of rivers state He

After the peace meeting with the president. The lawmakers were publicly still threatening him of impeachment, overriding his orders.

While one of the commissioners came out to insult the governor on live occasion.
