Wrong.

There are 36 state governors and they endorsed this revised proposal as stated in the Nigeria Governors Forum communique. Other posters have admitted this truth and nothing can change it.
Even if they endorsed it doesn't justify or even makes it right for a state to be getting only 30% out of 100% of what it generates while 70% is unjustly given to other states to enjoy same thing with oil producing states that only get just13% of their God given resources that's officially legalising robbing peter to pay paul. Where is this kind of resource sharing implemented anywhere in this world? Nigeria is no doubt a rogue state with unjust political structures and unjust
oppressive tax laws that's why it can never know true peace and progress because of it's wrong foundations any progress or peace it manages to experience with this type of unjust tax laws will only be artificial not natural.

It's deliberate of me not to the put the SW merely because they are building their economy at least for those governors who understands what's happening and PBAT.
^^^
Not sure what you mean by 'building their economy'. Also not sure what you mean by 'governors who understand what's happening'. If ever there was a time for governors to speak up in favour of a policy that (on paper at least) will incentivize innovation and productivity - that time is now. The silence is inexplicable.

bixton:
Just because there are no abstentions or disagreement doesn't mean there is none.
^^^
No. Let's not be legalistic here.

Even at the village community level, when thorny issues are discussed the records clearly reveal those for, those against and those who abstained. Ordinary, regular families do it too!

There are ordinary, everyday families whose meetings have records of who voted (in favour or against) on any number of family issues. If regular families can do this, then how can state governors (who have the power to sign death warrants) choose to remain silent on the record about legislation as consequential as this? This is the time to stand up and be counted - and the records should reflect those who stood up. The governors - to the last man - assented to that communique, full stop.

bixton:
There are governors that don't know how to drive their own State economy, how will they know what to say about the tax bill if it's good for them or those they govern?
^^^
Proves my point.

You are missing the point.

The current sharing formula is unjust and retrogressive. That is not in doubt. The problem is doing something about it. Nigerians (Southern Nigerians to be specific in this case) are very good at talking but abysmally poor at doing.

There are 36 state governors, drawn from 6 geopolitical zones. It is true that governors from Northern Nigeria were the first to present an organized front against some aspects of the new tax legislation - for parochial - and ultimately self defeating reasons that are well known. Those governors were sharply criticized on several threads (including this one) for their position. The problem is that all Nigerian governors eventually endorsed the position taken by the 19 Northern governors - and the jointly issued communique of the Nigeria Governors Forum proves this.

If Southern governors were against retaining the status quo on VAT sharing, they had the opportunity to declare their opposition - and there wouldn't have been any communique. However, they did not.

The truth is what it is.

When will the south stand up for itself?? Is it when there is another Buhari in power?

Our small and short sighted leaders should insist on nothing less than 50% on derivation. States are equal yet the North has 19 states and almost 60% of the House of reps seats shey?

We should not agree. The formula at worst should be:
50% derivation- 30% equality-20% population.
Make una do una worst

I said it yesterday that if the simplest thing such as this president's tax bill can't get through, nothing will ever. It's like an invisible handcuff which we can no longer blame on the north if other regions including the middlebelt can't join in to push it through. I've always said that Nigerians don't want restructuring, this goes to confirm that. All regions minus the real north had the number to pass the bill, but they don't want to do it, and there's nothing Oyedele can do. The only reform president Tinubu will be able to do is what he alone can do without the input of the lawmakers and the governors, anything that needs the help of the reps and senators won't happen, they are scared shittt. So if you want to call anyone a coward, it should be the lawmakers, the presidency has done its job of putting the bill out, but the lawmakers failed to pass it and allowed it to become a mess. Any other back and forth is no longer necessary, president Tinubu should now start a national conference, restructuring will not happen, at this juncture, no one can force anyone to remain in Nigeria. If the president is not allowed to carry out his agenda, or allowed to rule in peace, he can at least lead his own people out of Nigeria. Nothing else matters right now, we need to separate this country now.
This one dey cry as the North no allow Tinubu's Yoruba tax bill scale through cheesy

At least your people are being exposed as directionless, because of your parasitic existence. North alone couldn't have stopped it if all other regions want it. So rephrase it to "Nigeria no allow Yoruba tax bill to scale through" thereby showing how yall are still owned.

When the North expose the Yoruba tax bill, every part of this Country support them. Now the bill will no longer favour Yoruba. It will favour North more grin

We are still saying the same thing.

At least you can no longer say you are not slaves of the north.

Yoruba at least tried, we are just outnumbered, majority always carry the votes.

The bill exposed you people that, you can never stand against what the north wants, you are only against them with your mouths, in reality, you are suckers.

But Yoruba never knew they are out numbered. Since the North made Tinubu President, Yoruba people are all over the internet calling Northerners names. They forgot about the bolded you mentioned. 2027 is around the corner. We will see how Yoruba alone will make Tinubu President

@ truthcat, next time, before you open your mouth and stylishly attack others, especially the Igbos, try and do a little research on the people you quote.

Yoruba people like you and helinues, almighty God will save the better south from you. You yorubas have done so much damage to the south

North alone stopped the bill. Tinubu paid some Igbo leader like Kalu to help him drum support for the bill. The North alone was against the Yoruba tax bill.

The north alone couldn’t have stopped the bill, they alone don’t have the votes to stop it. All zones except Yorubaland are against the bill. It just shows that restructuring will never happen, most of you like Nigeria the way it is, only a break up is possible.

Stop calling “south” when it suits you, no such thing. Didn’t you all just refused to back “Yoruba tax bill” just because a Yoruba introduced it? Payback is a biatch.

Yoruba will call northerners name in response only, we don’t attack people first. We also helped them first, so it was a favor owed, and they have only paid half, and when you take away all the trouble they are giving president Tinubu, they really did nothing, because we allowed Buhari to rule in peace. Yoruba have a proverb that says “when you give a goat to egun, you must drop the rope. Don’t worry 2027 will take care of itself, if Nigeria is still a country by then, he will be your president, if you are still alive.
