The politics here is not about inactive company but about the contractor handling the project. This is the same politics they used during military era to abandoned Lagos development for years. They believed Julius Berger will do quality job , the cost of Julius Berger is irrelevant even if it is going to be 1,000,000 kilometers provided it is for the benefits of the North. They have forgotten Umahi is an engineer. There is no any well trained Nigeria engineer that will believe an engineering company can outperform another just because of name.

Lagos Ibadan expressway reconstruction less than 130 kilometres was reawarded by
Jonathan in 2013 but no fund. It is only Lagos to Sagamu which is less than 60kilometres that was given to Julius Berger because of fund, Sagamu to Ibadan which is about 70% was given to RCC . We know our experience. If Lagos to Ibadan were to be in the North, perhaps, they would have requested for the entire road to be given to Julius Berger irrespective of the cost.

The Senate, Northern caucus leader raised alarm last year about double budget and listed all key projects in the North including that of Niger Republic. I drew attention of prominent Nigerians to the alarm that it was because of Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway Project announced by Umahi. Later, people found out it was because of that project . Later, Sokoto Badagry expressway starting from Sokoto was included.

Engineer David Umahi should award projects to other companies that are very competent. Nigerian engineers that work with Julius Berger are not better than Nigerian engineers in other indigenous companies. Former top engineers in Julius Berger who participated in original design and construction of those roads own some of these indigenous companies.

Even with all the investigative journalism listed above? The CAC website is up-to-date contrary to your no-brainer expose. Not filing for your annual returns with the CAC is a basis for a company to come up as inactive on its website. As small as my company is, my status is active on their website and another friend who has not filed returns for 2 years and had been inactive just filed and is active. What about Infoquest's address? That doesn't bother you too? It's difficult to defend this government and have sense at the same time.

A lot of noise is made by government about attracting investment (local and foreign). The CAC is one of the first ports of call by both local and foreign investors who are trying to navigate this country's treacherous business environment. If any interested party cannot get reliable information from the CAC about a company's status at the click of a computer mouse - then there is a serious problem.

This is the tenth year of the APC in power. There is no excuse for not getting the CAC portal up and running 24/7. If the CAC portal has been static for 3 years then what has the government been doing?

The portal exists for basic, cursory checks on companies. Not everyone is interested in the detail provided by a legal search. And a search isn't exactly quick. You know how long it takes to conduct one.

80% of people on social media are fools according to what somebody said and supported by so many intelligent people. Most of the people making comments are not exposed. Daily Trust and their political elites that have been restless less than 180 days of Buhari leaving power never said anything when looting and
mismanagement was talking place under Buhari. It takes any government at least 12 months of coming into power to start any major project. Despite inheriting a government with 96% devoted to servicing debt and collapsed fiscal and monetary policies with comatose economy where cash is being sold by transfer of 8K to buy 5K cash and no physical cash for domestic usage except to queue for hours at Banks ATM to withdraw 2K, the Tinubu government kick-started projects less than 180 days of assumption of office and stabilized Fiscal and Monetary policies.

The message in Daily Trust is not about the company but about taking over of the project from Julius Berger. Can they award ONITSHA to Benin or Portharcourt to Benin to Julius Berger? Even, 3rd Mainland Bridge was constructed by Consortium of companies and not only Julius Berger. Dave Umahi is an engineer, the bid will have the names of key engineers and key projects executed.

Those complaining are burdens to Nigeria. When Obasanjo left in 1979, he left over 20 planes and over 20 ships for Nigeria. In 1999, NNSL liquidated, Nigeria Airways in debt , Nigeria in great debt, he met $5.5 billion in reserve, he left over $50 billion in reserve for Yaradua in May 29, 2007.

As at May 29, 2023 when Tinubu came look at an almost dead country handed over to him. They have no shame.
