What qualification does Keyamo, a lawyer have to say a runway is world class? Orishirisi World class runaway for a white elephant project. No commercial activity will occur at the so-called airport in the next 15 years. |

AngelGabbyShara:That's quite impressive. The main terminal building interior of the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport that I've seen online looks good as well. Kudos goes to the 98-year-old Ekiti-born legal giant, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, for also donating some millions of Naira (aside from the major funding from the Ekiti State Government) to build that Cargo Airport. Many Ekiti folks living in the Diaspora and other folks can then fly in and explore the tourist (Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort) and solid minerals and agribusinesses investment opportunities in Ekiti State when all is set. There are many well-known and silent multimillionaires, professionals and technocrats from Ekiti State that I know living in Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, etc, who will find it easier flying in instead of driving from Lagos for over 3 hours to get to the nearby Akure and then to Ekiti. This airport is NOT just for air cargo shipments but would fly in and out passengers as well just like the Gateway International Cargo Airport is being planned for. I don't know which company handled the Ekiti Airport but if any further building additions are to be made, Craneburg looks like a professional company to handle that. The runway is planned to be the longest in Nigeria and West Africa. The Abia Airport being undertaken as a Federal Government project with contributions from the Abia Government (who has promised to construct the runway), is being undertaken by Craneburg as well. Craneburg looks like a very reliable construction company. The Governor of this state is not a noise makers, he is getting things done silently. |
| Re: Ekiti Airport Runway Is World Class - Aviation Minister by Flangelo12: 1:01pm On Jan 21, 2025 |
Judolisco:The State is faced with several challenges that an airport would do little to alleviate. The State does not experience the type of traffic or commerce to require such expensive layout. Akure to Ekiti by road is about an hour, depending on where in Ekiti. What purpose would such an airport serve such that it supersedes the other needs of the state? Emphasis should be paid to skills acquisition, especially in Tech, infant mortality, agro commerce, grassroot infrastructure. |

Saturday Jibes: Tinubu Is A Lucky Man!! 1999-2007, Obj attempted a complete removal of fuel subsidy. He failed. 2007-2009, Yaradua couldn't stomach the hike in fuel price foisted on him by Obj. He reverted! 2009-2015, Jonathan was harangued. He increased the pump price. It was rejected. He reduced. 2015-2023, Buhari increased the pump price of fuel. Buhari couldn't go any further. From 1999-2023, billions and trillions of naira were wasted on fuel subsidy. Check am! Nigeria's fuel consumption is around 5m litres/day. Subsidy was paid for about 60m ltrs/day of fuel import receipts. Criminality! Check out the logic! Nigeria imports 60m litres of subsidized fuel per day. Nigerians consume only about 5m litres out of this 60m ltres. About 55m litres of fuel, subsidized by Nigerian govt, were smuggled to Cameroon, Benin, Niger and beyond or never imported but paid for. This is a mess! Past presidents tolerated from 1999-2023!? Unbelievable! All the while, our national refineries were sabotaged. TAMs could resuscitate any of them. Tens and thousands of certificates were issued to investors to build refineries in Nigeria. Who invests in an economy where there is no price security? Now, fuel subsidy is gone. The sector is deregulated completely. Price war is here! Leadership needs people with balls!! Hard balls! Tinubu came screaming "emilokan". Some said Tinubu is gone. He survived. Tinubu came screaming "fuel subsidy is gone". Some thought he was mad but things remain quiet. Dangote Refinery is operating independently without subsidy demands. Our refineries are creeping back to life, one after another. Tinubu's LG autonomy is now a reality. Past Presidents dreaded! Tinubu's Tax Reform Bill got some people threatening. The 36 governors have accepted and endorsed it. Student Loan! Another masterstroke! Our past presidents didn't think about it. Leadership needs balls! Patriotism needs balls too!! Don't count it an achievement when we squander the future of our children today. (c) Mbanugo Steve |
