An EO is not intended to change the Constitution, it is simply an Executive decision (that the executive branch of government must comply with - including those issuing US passports), so long as it does not violate any rights. The EO was intended to bait someone with standing to file a SCOTUS suit. The lack of standing is why no one has filed a 14th Amendment suit until now. They think they will have 5 justices to overturn the Wong Art Kim decision. At that point, it's game over.

The EO does not overturn the 14th Amendment. It is intended to force a court to reinterpret the meaning of "subject to the jurisdiction thereof." There is already information indicating that the writer of the amendment did not intend it to be interpreted broadly.

Lol. Any EO that goes againt the constitution is always overturned. He tried several of this kind of nonsense in his first term and many were overturned in the courts for going against the constitution. Imagine a democrat trying to use EO to nullify the 2nd Amendment. That is exactly what trying to use EO to end the 14th Amendment is. U said no one as sued? Hahaha. Relax. Anyone can sue, state AG, civil right groups, immigration right groups, just anyone. He is not baiting anyone; he knows they will sue. He just likes throwing red meat to his base.

Well... Every Countries constitution can be re written including the US. If it appears the true reason for the previous constitution is been abused. The Democrats want the same but they want Trump to be blamed for stopping birthright citizeship in America.

Then let the US constitution be rewritten to abolish birthright citizenship. Till then any executive order or act abolishing birthright citizenship is unconstitutional.

This was only a matter of time. America is the only 1st World Country permitting Birth Right Citizenship. Somehow we knew this Promo was going to run it's course, especially after being massively oversubscribed.
Trump will need to amend the Constitution to give this backing. Which means majority of the States' Senate have to approve the amendment.

An attempt to change the existing amendment can only be done through a new constitutional amendment, which requires either a joint resolution passed by two-thirds of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, or a convention called by Congress in response to two-thirds of state legislatures requesting one.

However, Trump's order doesn't change the wording. Instead, it attempts to reinterpret a clause in the amendment to no longer apply to large numbers of people that it used to.

You underestimate Trump’s reach. Was the constitution changed before a convicted felon became president? Was it changed when an insurrectionist became president?

If you counting on SCOTUS, then it’s a done deal.

The US Constitution sets out relatively few eligibility requirements for presidential candidates: they must be at least 35, be a “natural born” US citizen and have lived in the US for at least 14 years. There are no rules blocking candidates with criminal records.
