i think the type of alcohol in nigeria is deadly, because of fake and adultrated product in nigeria and many drink this fake substance thinking they are drinking alcohol., NAFDAC need to sit up and arrest the situation

That's how alcohol is to me. I equate smell of alcohol to the urine of the bearded male goat in my mind and that's why i can never taste alcohol.

Attach alcohol to something very repugnant in your mind..it will steer you clear from romancing the bottle.

What's with most of them returning back,I guess they cant afford the lifestyle attributed to high cost of living there any longer.

Omo this life Sha, I got diagnosed of Diabetes at age 18 2015, This year will make it 10yrs being with diabetes and I still drink & smoke sometimes.... I believe depression will kill me faster than diabetes, drugs are quite expensive to buy now. I'm still managing my life as I see it tho.

I did a year and 5 months without alcohol from 2022 to 2023. It did my body a lot of good. It's always great to take long breaks from alcohol if you can't leave it completely.

Just eat like you eat groundnuts everyday. You know if blood sugar level drops too much, it's dangerous; go for check-up after sometime to avoid low blood sugar level.

Drinking is not majorly the issue afterall you have lots of people that never drank but had kidney failure. The major causes of kidney issues in the Nigerian context are:
-Diabetes.
-Consuming medication eg Nsaids ie daclofenac,
ibuprofen, naproxen, asprine, panadol, paracetamol, alabukun etc.
-Agbo, herbs etc
-Consuming perfumes aka "cele water".
Even though alcohol affect the kidney, the major damage it does is to the liver.

If you love yourself and your life please quit smoking and drinking. Your kidneys need only clean drinkable water and watch you eat.
