A Urologist in the Department of Surgery at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Anambra State, Dr. Cornelius Onuigbo, was abducted by gunmen on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred at the gate of Onuigbo’s residence in Nnewi as he returned home from work.
Witnesses reported that the armed men intercepted him with their vehicle, forced him into it, and drove off.
One of the sources said, “The medical doctor was rounded up by some armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, as he was about to enter the gate of his residence. They had a few conversations with him after which they asked him to enter into their vehicle and drove off.

“No one knows the reason for the development, although the suspected kidnappers have not reached out to the family, but the family is already making an effort to secure his release.”

A staff of the university, who didn’t want his name on print, confirmed the development, saying, “The institution is aware of the incident and we are doing the needful. That is all I can say for now”.

The spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, also confirmed the incident.

“Yes, the command is aware of the kidnap. We have already mobilised for the rescue of the doctor. The commissioner, CP Obono Itam, has given orders for this, and men of the command are currently at work,” he said.

Again. I was just reading on Facebook about this lady from Agulu that was killed.

Kidnapped and murd*red in Agulu, Anambra state-born female banker Ifeoma Onyekwelu to be buried on Saturday, 1st February 2025.

She was abducted in Onitsha where she works and despite the ransom paid by the family, her abductors murd*red her and dumped her by the side of the road at Ideani.

The video and pictures which went viral shocked everyone.
