A video of Elon Musk claiming to be the highest taxpayer in history resurfaced online, thereby sparking reactions. In the video, recorded during a campaign event for President-elect Donald Trump, the Tesla CEO stated that he had paid over $10 billion in taxes to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Musk jokingly expressed his wish for the IRS to recognize his contributions by sending him a trophy, suggesting even a small, inexpensive one like those awarded in children’s karate competitions. Despite not receiving such recognition, he clarified that he was content to pay taxes for the greater good of society.

However, ProPublica's analysis of IRS data from 2014 to 2018 revealed that Musk paid no federal income taxes in 2018. More surprisingly, Michael Bloomberg managed to pay taxes at one of the lowest rates by claiming deductions exceeding $1 billion. Between 2013 and 2017, Bloomberg deducted an average of $409 million annually from his state and local tax liabilities. Billionaire investors like Carl Icahn and George Soros also avoided paying federal income taxes for multiple years, despite significant growth in their net worths during the same period.

The resurfaced video has ignited widespread discussions on social media, with many debating Musk’s remarks and the broader implications of tax policies for the ultra-wealthy.

I pray it gets better too but it's not the policies that are the problem, it is what they do with our taxes.

A tax is a compulsory contribution to state revenue, levied by the government on workers' income and business profits, or added to the cost of some goods, services, and transactions.

Every transaction you make on your bank app comes with a tax. You pay it, bank removes it immediately. Every call and text you make, there is a tax amount to it. Now the question is what are they doing with your taxes? Buying expensive cars? Renovating official residences or spending it on useless trips?
