havenz:Nigeria never know anything, copying western way of not punishing students. Western children were shown love from parent, society and govt. Little thing like asking them to stay in one place is enough punishment to keep them in check. In the other hand Nigerian kids are giran, and they want to keep the rod with them too. Like one poster said a few days ago, all those people who only show their activism when a teacher disciplines a child, where are they when it comes unfair treatment to teachers through meagre pay, high responsibility, bad working condition etc. |

havenz:The education schools provide is completely different from parenting. You are absolutely right about parent’s shirking their responsibilities. But, parenting is still their responsibilities and not the schools or the government. |

helinues:How many of us didn't think our parents or teachers were too strict until we became one?? Even if he is not good, can't he be reported to the school or community head?? So you would have said your son should beat you to coma because you are not "good". YOU ARE NOT MATURE. |
| Re: SS2 Students Brutally Attack Teacher, Leave Him In Coma In Kogi State by Ankakh: 7:52am On Jan 23, 2025 |
This is very unfortunate. As the teacher is in a coma (and let's even assume he instigated this in some way), those students who are street boys in school should first be remanded in police custody for some days while the investigation continues. If society do not discipline them now (because of the influence of the ringleader's father), it sets a terrible precedent. More students will become bold to assault their teachers. On top of a bad educational curriculum and system, teachers that have been trying to impact on the younger generation now become punching bags. What a decline for the nation! |

helinues:The Bad here must mean someone who say truth to them without mincing words and refuses to pamper them but corrects them through discipline. I could remember how a female attempted to blackmail me when she accused me of sexually molesting her cox I saw her with other student and suspected her with another male teacher due to their shady movement. I called her warned her and threatened to tell her mum, cox I know her mum. If not because other teachers and student trusted me and know I don't even entertain a single student meeting me either make or female. If you want to talk to me, you must come with a friend so that others won't read meaning to it. I do preach the word of God to them and don't in anyway allow them to get too close to me. After the principal and staff drill her and other female student in SS3 without my knowledge. That was when she opened up that she hated me, this same girl was latter expelIed. I am sure if she is a male, she can mastermind to beat me like this and Mr. Jury like you will term me a bad person |

helinues:There is little to defend about your comment no matter how it is modified. What such students consider as bad is discipline and the insistence for them to do the right thing eg submit assignment on time, don't come late to school, do not disturb the class, maintain the dress code etc. Once a teacher insists on these, he becomes a wicked person and tagged as bad. Ask yourself, why is the report mentioning the students are cultists? Of course as cultists, they won't be serious in any of the things above |

Wisdom is profitable to direct. Times have change and teachers should make peace with this fact. All those talks of instilling discipline is a trap. You want to instill discipline in students who are members of different cults or whom their parents themselves are cultists? You want to instill discipline in students who do drugs and have free access to guns or you want to instill discipline in female students who are regular customers of different hood hotels? Some of these male students are young as 12 and living alone. These boys do burglary as part-time job and their absentee parents don't know exactly the whereabout of their kids at any point in time, except of course when they're caught and Civil Defense has to inform them. During my Service year, I promise myself I wasn't going to do anything to make their lives worse, but I also wouldn't do much to make it better either (that is up to them, their parents, and maybe Nigeria). I did my teaching job and allowed others do their own job, too. |

tutudesz:Dies this government look like one that's planning for tge future? All they want is quick money for now. Sports is a tool foreign countries use to make youths occupied. Imagine if there was no sports ptomotion in US with the amount of youths there. How chaotic it would be if they are just idle. Because school is really not for everyone. Some just manage to pass through. |
