Hello everyone.

I intend to go into cucumber farming, and I got some cucumber marketer seeds. However, I'm having double mind about planting it due to how cheap the seeds are compared to other varieties.

Also, all the other farmers I've met are planting either Greengo or Darina, and I haven't met anyone who has tried marketer before.

I will like to ask if anyone here has tried Marketer variety before. How big are the fruits? And how do they fare in the market compared to Darina and Greengo?

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the least score, will you recommend a new cucumber farmer to plant Marketer variety?

Kindly go for Greengo, Deawy, Darina or Jorad seeds, those are F1 varieties forget about marketer seed.

Why not ask questions before buying the seed.? Person weh ask for road no deh miss road. Either you forget about it or grow it in your home garden for personal consumption.

The variety he got is not suitable for commercial purpose due to...
1. Late maturity (almost 60 days unlike some varieties that mature in less than 40days)... If harvesting is done every 4-day, imagine your fellow farmer who planted other species going to market more than five times B4 your own gets matured. Besides, you keep spending resources on pumping water for irrigation for like extra 2weeks B4 maturing.
2. Poor/low yield
3. Poor disease resistance...Downy mildew ( most stubborn cuke disease) no be him mate.
4. Low shelf life... imagine harvesting your cukes and due to one issue or the other you couldn't sell within 3 days, it wl start turning to yellow color, esp when subjected to high temperature/heat.
5. The body is not smooth/not attractive to buyers due to the presence of spines all over its body.
