Trump stated this in his first major speech to global leaders since returning to the White House this week.

DAILY POST recalls that since his swearing-in on Monday, Trump has said that Washington could impose steep tariffs on major trading partners Canada, Mexico and China as soon as February 1.


The Republican has also signed a flurry of executive orders, pulling the United States out of the Paris Climate Accords and the World Health Organisation.

“Come make your product in America and we will give you among the lowest taxes of any nation on earth.

“But if you don’t make your product in America, which is your prerogative, then very simply you will have to pay a tariff,” he stated.


In his speech, he added that he believed lower oil prices would help end the war in Ukraine instantly.

Trump said he expected to have a very good relationship with China, stressing that all they want is fairness.

Indeed, if LOWER TAXES are offered for multinational companies that would eventually move to operate in the United States, then things might pan out right. On the other hand, to threaten VERY STIFF taxes on imported goods from other countries would also trigger a rash of higher taxes on imported American goods thereby nullifying whatever advantages Donald and his economic team are trying to achieve. So, each country has to find a BALANCE when engaging with international business entities.

These are the push-and-pull dynamics you get to encounter in international trade.

How does he not understand that these companies don't care about tariffs? They will simply mark it up on their products. The people who actually suffer are the end users, the everyday citizens. If you add a 25% tariff on imported aluminium from China for example, the companies that import these products into the US will pay that tariff to the US Customs, and assuming the price was $100/kg before the tariff, it becomes $125 or even $150 after the tariff (depending on how much revenue is necessary to keep the company in business). Yes, the companies will pay the tariff but the people actually paying are the users. This is part of why inflation happens in some sectors.

How does he not understand it? Or maybe he understands it but continue to play a fast one on his supporters.
