Una dey craze!!! Petrol increased more than 300%, una no do anything. But you want a company not to increase it's price by 50%. Even electricity tariff increased more than 200%. Clowns, leave telecoms alone! I don't even understand why government is putting a cap on what a private telecom wants to charge but they allow petrol to be selling at any price. |

But wait o, is it that nairaland houses a disproportionate number of misinformed folks or are Nigerians just so poorly educated in our reasoning? If the price doesn't increase it'll honestly mean that those companies have been earning 10 to 50 times of profit one would consider reasonable, Considering how expensive things are. A 50% increase is extremely reasonable. |

Sometimes our complaints are very useless and I guess that's why the government doesn't take us serious(aside from their total wickedness) How do you expect a company with increased cost of operations, increased tax, increased staff salaries and ever greedy investors to stay in business by charging what they charged eleven years ago? How do we expect them to remain in business and deliver quality services by running on a deficit. This was exactly what happened to the power sector. They were charging below operating costs and not investing and expanding. By the time they started, the masses have already gotten used free power plus the amount of investments needed to keep the service running optimally has gone overboard |

Over the years, has Nigeria government ever cared for the citizens? A government that hoarded palliatives from its citizens. A government that only knows how to tax, tax and tax. Anyway, Peter Obi is learning his lessons. |

MasterJayJay:You're among the only few Nigerians who are still able to think straight. Emotional outbursts everywhere. They don't want to spend more on airtime and data and they want to peg their bias on the fact that government is holding these telecom companies by the throat. These companies maintain their equipment, pay staff salaries, sponsor CSRs, and are still accountable to their investors/shareholders, yet Nigerians want them to continue running as near-charities. The same Nigerians who are now paying x5 for transport and many other necessities. Yet, many of them who are also into buying and selling or rendering services know how much they now sell their wares or charge for their services compared to before. The government should let these companies breathe. The same government raised fuel price from N200 to N1000, allowed customs to adjust duty as they like, and introduced stamp duty and other ridiculous stuff. Now, they want to stiffle telecom companies who also need to adjust in line with economic realities created by the same government. |

The same way the government backed labour for salary increase. Even, the government itself has been increasing prices of what we used to know as social services. Labour should make intelligent conversations at this time, those TELCOs are not parastatals, but private, profit-oriented business entities. …Unless the government is ready to start another wasteful journey of subsidies in telecommunications. |

The most useless labour leader in Nigeria's history. He is just speaking now, so that people will not say he did not voice out or complain about it. Instead of them (labour) to have tackled the govt regarding fuel price increase and naira devaluation. Sebi he has collected his salary increment now. . He is here ranting like a chicken with kolikoli. . |

Nonsense. Telecomms are private companies, not owned by government. Imagine, how much they would be charging, if the government does not get involved. |

michlins:Stop defending what you don't know. Products are different. Someone selling food would need to buy raw materials every day. This is not the same with someone selling water. Telecom and electricity are like some one selling water. You don't invest on daily basis. It is only in Nigeria that the government and the people will just wake up and increase prices by 50 to 10000% and expect everyone to be happy because there is inflation. |
