Sonnobax15:@Op, sorry for your ordeals. Agents' excesses really need to be curtailed, most of them charge higher than the amount the house owner intend to give out his house, not to talk of agency fees and the intention to use their service fee. It's worrisome. |

Searching for house is not a child's play. Person will encounter different circumstances. And the Agents will be behaving like a demi-god. My concern is that the government should build affordable housing unit in every states in the country. So people's will be comfortable with life. |

House/Land Agents in Nigeria are demons. Those guys reap for a living. It's all about the 3k visitation fees for them if they notice your desperation. You need to stay rugged, give them specifications and let them know upfront you won't pay a single dime if they take you to any apartment that doesn't meet your predefined preferences. BTW, why you dey call your fiancƩe Banny? Sounds disrespectful. Or maybe na me be old school |

I believe your intensity to get a house made them treat you as such. You don't approach Agents (or Nigerians) with desperation written all over your face. When you do, their intention will automatically switch from rendering a service to ripping you off. To them, dem don see opportunity to chop this one. Na how to collect the small kish wey dey ya hand them go dey look for. The way we behave for this country they always make me vex. Me I don't wonder why Nigeria is bad because I know why but what I don't like is how Nigerians will try to pin it on someone's head somewhere while exonerating themselves of any wrong doing. Na Nigerians go carry dirts from their house go throway for road or inside gutter. Even you wey be Keke rider sef, you follow for the misbehaviour wey dey happen daily for this country. Keke Driver wey fit cause accident because of one passenger wey him wan carry/drop. Them no get Bus Stop, they stop at any point, they don't care about others or even their own safety sef. I know the pepper wey una dey show car drivers for road but now you dey complain of agents. Shey you no think say the madness na general madness? For this country to get better, we will all have to do better. It's very simple! With the way we all currently behave, Nigeria will keep going down and things will continue to get worse. I just read now, that retired Army Generals are responsible for the ILLEGAL MINING going on in the country. Can you imagine that? And I want to believe that the ones still in service too go dey involved. I know of a woman who is just a wife to an Army Officer who is not even a General. If you see the kind of lush edifice (eatery, event center, pharmacy etc) this woman built with like 4 to 5 gigantic buildings inside the premises, you will wonder if she was into hard drugs business or any other crime. Na now I know one of the sources of income for them |

Searching for house especially in Lagos is not a child play at all. |

I prefer to fall into the hands of the agents of darkness where prayers could still work, than fall into the hands of human agents. Anything agents for Naija na evil |

The same thing happens in most countries of the world. They ensure you cough out thousands before they can help you secure an apartment. Except you are just fortunate to know a apartment owner directly, and he's willing to do you that favour of direct rent. Otherwise, you go sweat |

But, I just don't understand why the government hasn't done anything or come up with a legislation that will curb the excesses of these house agents. Things like these that have direct impact on the citizens, the government won't do shit; as if they are not concerned about what the citizens are going through. This is the more reason I can't wait for Babatunde Fashola to become the president of Nigeria. |

House agents are the reason people are currently experiencing high rents. Because of their percentage, they deliberately ask landlords to increase rents. Very anyhow people. |

Similar issue with me right now. In my own case have paid 6 different agents with nothing to show for. The one that even showed me a better accomodations asked me to pay times 2 of the main amount for rent as an agent and agreement fees! The thing weak me. Me ma I've decided to stay put where I am. My mumu don do abeg! |

End time agents. I think it's time for Local Government to begin regulating them. In Enugu State, house agent charge as high as 40% as commision/agent fees. |

Best thing to do honestly, some will still say they didn't hear the instructions and will try to sweet talk you into the apartment that did not meet your specification Tjra: |

Hmmm Those people are worse than police. Na dem be everybody problem for now. You see them inflating rents which even them cannot afford. Most of them live in colony like bees with about 9 people inside one room. With the free money they collect, you will always see them looking tattered. Dem go carry u waka the whole state and at the end na one useless house wey no worth 200k dem go dey tell u say na 3million and still collect 20% agency fee like say na their papa carry the block wey landlord use mould the house. The roadside agents are even worse than the real estate companies. Na all their family problem dem wan put on one single tenant rent Ati roadside agent ati corporate agent, e no go beta for una |

Asaba own be say you go pay extra 50% join the original rent. Them go say the 3 bedroom house na 1.2m but "total package" for it na 1.850m, when both caution, agreement and agency fee is added 300k. Meanwhile agent house na like craze person own. They themselves no go pay 40k yearly for their own. |

They will whine you if you sound desperate⦠Omor,,,if you donāt send me videos of the apartment with the total package that comes with it Iām not paying shi shi or even following you to anywhere Abj agents are devils! |
| Re: My Recent Experience With House Agents by Tjra: 5:55am On Jan 25, 2025 |
Raypawer:I know, na their way. You gats reiterate it to them on phone over and over. In PH, don't think there is anything like registration fee. However, you give them transport fare after every site visit. If the property you take me to does not match at least 99.9999% of the checklist I send to you, no dime for you. Not even N10.00 I've once been taken to about 8 properties on different days and the only transport fare to agent I made was for the house I eventually got. Lagos agents are different sha. Mad men full there. |

There are no differences between u and the agents you're complaining about, just that each of us has our own department of evil...Nigerians are evil |
