What Formula Should I Apply Here? Quantitative Reasoning by Ireport85(op):
Apologies i can't post pictures,i don't know if the fault is from network ,nairaland or myself

This is the question.

Example

30>45>55 ∆ 15>30>40

1. 36 > 48 > ? ∆ 24>?>60

2. 20 > ? > 60 ∆ ? >30>50

3. ?>120>150 ∆ 70 > ? >120

4. 5 > ? >11 ∆ ? > 6 > 9

5. ? > 5 > 9 ∆ 1> 4 > ?

I would still keep trying to upload the picture.
Your input is appreciated.

The explanation is that you compare the left handside with the RHS. Basically, take the difference btw the first number on the LHS and that of the RHS, so what you get as the difference will be what you will use to either add to the RHS or subtract from the LHS.
30>45>55 ∆ 15>30>40
Compare LHS 30 and RHS 15, the difference is 15 and that 15 cuts across the others too

1. 36 > 48 > ? ∆ 24>?>60
What is the diff btw 36 and 24 = 12
48-12 = ans 36
? - 12= 60 ........72

2. 20 > ? > 60 ∆ ? >30>50
60- ?= 50
? = 10

? -10=30
?= 40

but in the example 30+15 =45
45+10 =55

So,I5 is added first and later 10 is added.
That is what happens on the RHS also;15 is added first and later 10 is added.

So how can the exercises with different figures be solved

1. What number is to be added first.
2 what number is to be added second.

Thanks for your time.
