what is the relationship between your post and the following questions?:

why particular about SE?

is it the only region that received more than what it contributed to VAT?
Empty, unproductive, wretched barrels make the most noise.

The essence of the thread is to exonerate the North from all the bashing they have received calling them PARASITES.

As Nigeria is currently structured, I will urge South east states to stop declaring their VAT, hide and use it to develop the region, but collect as much as you can from the centre grin

It's not only them that knows the trick of mining our oil and gas and giving us peanuts in th4 name of allocations.

If you are not happy, let's do regional governments or full state autonomy.

Hateful propaganda is useless.
Ondo state alone has more oil than the entire SE states combined.

lexy2014:
how has that made the people of ondo state to enjoy unprecedented high standard of living?
And how has the oil and gas in the SE made the people of that region to enjoy unprecedented high standard of living?

PresidObi:
Then support full state autonomy and stop being a parasite.
And who is the parasite here?

It's a crying shame that Lagos couldn't generate at least 180 trillion dollars from our ports and all our company headquarters stationed there. I think there is heavy fraud going on there. They must be hiding some revenue.
It's a shame on you that ,the money generated from ports is not VAT, (vat means value added tax.)

Money generated in port is levies/charges

VAT is Consumption TAX.

use energy you are using to wail on every thread, to upgrade yourself in areas of politics and governance.

You’re not even proud of your root but had to claim Yoruba.

Nothing is stopping any state from being financially independent. It is to do with IGR. All states have millions of people that have income, hundreds of thousands of landlords that collect rent and thousands of high net worth individuals. What is stopping them from becoming financially independent?.

While the Southeastern states contributed relatively little to the VAT pool, the region received approximately 3.38 times their contributions.

Same Ebonyi they mock that it's village and has no Aba has proven to be 3 times more VAT-able than Abia, Enugu and Imo.
Smh.

Humility pays in this life because pride goes before disgrace.
To be sincere with you, not just in this vat contribution. There were some other economic indicators statistics last year that Ebonyi performed better than the other Southeastern states except Anambra. And from my observation, it seems Ebonyi is the second most viable state in the Southeast.

I still wonder why the unnecessary discrimination against them from their fellow Southeastern people.

Don't focus on oil money. Without oil money, any state with millions of residents can be financially independent.

You're right
Though the problem is higher population should translate to higher VAT collection
