waternogatenemy:There were already seaports everywhere since 1800s so North can not use it to threaten anyone.. SE and SS have 4 ports which is more than anywhere in Nigeria.. the only thing Lagos and the SW has over other regions is the spending power which means the buyers and consumers of most products in Nigeria is the SW.. A business person whose market is the SW will not import from the ports in the SE/SS regions then transport the goods to the SW to sell because that is waste of funds and will destroy the business before it starts.. you have never started or owned a business in your life so you don't understand how businesses work and make profits. |

FreeStuffsNG:Oga this format has since casted. VAT taxes is bo indication of prosperity. Government cannot tac its way to prosperity. You need to cut cost of governance. See bros look for a decent job to do, this propaganda games no dey sell. SE has 5 states while other regions have 6 states do you earnestly expect that they will generate more than other regions? |

Christistruth02:The president should know better that you cannot tax your way to prosperity. You guys some months back were talking about IGR, I just laughed at you people, now all of a sudden you know you are overtaxed, when I say it everyday that a state will low GDP and high IGR is a clear indication of overtaxation una no hear. |

FreeStuffsNG:And who paid the VAT in Lagos , Abuja and Oyo State? Yoruba people? My monthly tax is more than a lecturer 1 salary and I pay it to Ogun State government because I reside in Ogun State. How many Yorubas live in South East ? South East alone contributes the highest revenue to Nigerian Breweries but the VAT is paid to Lagos State because the HQ is in Lagos State. Divide the country and allow SE to go since you consider them parasites and let us see if Nigerian economy will not collapse in few months. |

That contribution to me is toomuch. Am so angry with that figure. When will our people start having sense? FG has totally abandoned our region and still want revenue from us. We should stop giving the yeye FG any kobo until they bring the same Favour they give to the north and SW to SE. until then the revenue I want to read next time is 800m revenue generation from the SE. How can we be generating money for Lagos, SW and North to be enjoying the benefit of FG? How can it be that for the past 50years, the only contribution of FG in SE is 2nd Niger bridge? Nonesense |

Irony1:states get their IGR from employee/payee tax from companies with employees.. so a state with high IGR means that state has a lot of companies with high number of employees.. stop spreading mis-information... it has nothing to do with over-taxation.. GDP has to do with population and nothing to do with taxation.. you have never worked in a company or started or owned a business in your life so you don't understand how businesses and taxes work.. |

Onyiridike:Your job that you claim to pay tax from is in Ogun state and that's why you live in Ogun state. the market your employers company is targeting is the SW and that is why the company is in Ogun state. Divide the country and you and other Igbos outside the SE will all lose your high paying jobs because the new countries will pass laws that discourage the hiring of foreigners.. the new countries especially the ones that already have companies will never collapse. I don't believe that you even have a job where your monthly tax is more than a lecturer 1 salary because you will not make such comments if you really had a job outside the SE states.. |

It's just so horrible that nothing reasonable or productive or beneficial ever comes from this site anymore... Everyday, these yoruba people keep looking for hate to spread about the Igbo people and the south east,we don't understand their obsession!!!! Look at the posts of someone like sharpsharp00123 and emperorceasar for example,it's all about the Igbos, day and night.....what a people |

codemaniacs:Oga stop trying to be a wise arse. GDP is an indicator of wealth distribution not population after all Anambra's population is smaller than these SW states. Again note that if IGR is high and GDP is low there is clearly overtaxation or multiple taxation happening also IGR is not gotten from Payee only, other levies from state governments also add to the IGR. Try and minimise lying it will help you. |

codemaniacs:Foolish Analysis. If all Igbo businesses are moved to SE, Anambra alone will be richer than the entire SW and North combined. The VAT you boast of are contributed by Igbos. Your people do not pay tax neither do they do any lucrative business. Any Yoruba landlord depends on Igbos to get good house rent, same in the North. You think your forefathers who fought civil war for three years are fools? They know that without the industrious Igbos, Nigeria is dead. Which tribe imports goods in Nigeria? Which tribe pays business permit and tax to state government? In the North, if Igbos are celebrating Igbo day, commercial activity in the whole city is dwarfed. It is as if there is a curfew until they resume back. Please, I dare you to divide the country. Tell Tinubu to make the move. |

Irony1:majority of states IGR in Nigeria is gotten from companies.. others are from transportation fees, advertising fees, state owned airports, state owned companies, state owned tolled roads if the state has tolled roads built by the state government, drivers fees e.t.c.. GDP = Consumption + Investment + Government Spending + Net Exports while GDP per capita is calculated by dividing total GDP of the country, state or community by its total population you are confusing GDP per capita and the normal GDP.. IGR cannot be high and GDP will be low while IGR can be high and GDP per capita will be low because of the population of the place where the GDP per capita is calculated. |
