The funny thing is that most people don't know that the real brown roof area is the ancient Ibadan town and it's a small area compared to the rest of the city. That's why it has "Bode" (boundary) and "Gate" areas marking the two ends of the stretch. Of course, there are adjoining areas that developed in the 50s and 60s now with old brown roofs.

There are many beautiful layouts and GRAs outside the old city.

Fair enough but why not make your South East conducive to these companies to move their businesses and VAT to?

After all none of these companies will stay put in the South West if they see a better deal elsewhere.
You don't know anything about the politics of siting industries in Nigeria. Let me give you a small tutorial. Unilever (Lever Brothers) use to have three factories in Nigeria, Apapa later Oregon, Agbara and Aba. Apapa manufactures Detergents and personal cares, Agbara - Foods while Aba manufactures Soaps but it happened that Detergents especially Omo wasn't making any profit for 15 consecutive years and the talk of closing the Detergents factory started. You know what? The Yoruba directors and Executives decided to carry the Soap factory to Apapa and then brought the Omo factory to Aba, that in the invent of closure, the Aba factory will be gone. That's one instance, I have many of them and know the politics behind industrialization in Nigeria but the children on Nairaland wouldn't allow us to teach them out of our vast experience without throwing tamper tantrums and insults.

Like I said, companies will go where it wil benefit them, I bet you these Yoruba executives took more things into account than Lever brothers being sited in ala Yoruba. Cost of transporting raw materials to the factory for example.

It still doesn't stop industrialists, who are mainly about the bottom line, moving their organisations to where is more financially beneficial to them. Make your environment more conducive to pick up the VAT, no need to make excuses.

All my invoices from Unilever, P&G and other companies are VATed in Lagos State, Southwest or the location of the manufacturing company while the consumption is done in Southeast. That's an abrasion but for the ignoramuses, they don't know what's coming at them after the passage of the TAX bills.
This thread is talking about Oyo not Lagos. These multinationals are not HQtred in Oyo yet the state is returning much higher VAT than the SE combined. We know Lagos is your nightmares but focus on the subject of the thread.

Oyo state alone contributed N272 Billion while 5 evil forests contributed barely N100 billion within same period. Now take a look at what Oyo received compared with what the evil forests got within same period. Who is feeding who? Did Reno lie?
VAT is consumption tax. Yorubas and owambe are 5 and 6. Oyo GDP is far below Imo and Anambra

How did changing the location of the bankrupt factory to the East and transferring the profitable one to the Southwest any plus to multinationals than usual ethnic politics in Nigeria?

After the civil war, the indigenization policy of multinationals started, and it was done just after the end of the civil war when the Igbos had nothing, no money at the bank, all infrastructures were bombed, and the region was a shadow of a graveyard.

Igbos couldn't buy shares; hence Yorubas dominated.

The most conducive region for siting industries is in Eastern Nigeria, but Yourbas controls most Government Offices in Nigeria and uses feasibility studies to cancel a selection of Southeast for multinationals.

I am speaking as a senior citizen who knows cooperate Nigeria and the politics of division. The policy of no federal presence in the Southeast is deliberate, not a coincidence.

All that you've said here, none of it addresses my point of South eastern governments making their states conducive for Industry to move over there.

Indigenization policy actually ramped up in 1977 when it was amended due to Obasanjo being fed up of Thatcher not wanting to do anything about apartheid South Africa.

If you are a senior citizen, you would realise that Awolowo led Yorùbá intó opposition politics which meant Yoruba wouldn't have controlled most of government offices like you said to weild the powers you have mentioned. Happy to see any proof though as that statement of yours is pretty incendiary.

I doubt there's any more Federal presence outside of Lagos in the South West than in the South East. Maybe if you had some stats to show, that will be worth seeing.

I can see that you're even slower than we have always known you for. You may be forming your mgbeke for everyone else but don't bring it near me. Your little brain could not fathom the intention of the new tax bill, that's why you talk ignorantly. If multinationals hardly find SE suitable for their location, it is one of the consideration by the drafters of the bill to make VAT equitable and more proportional than it is presently shared. That's why Lagos and Rivers will be most affected.

If it's funny seeing a migrant saying a host country or community do not know they have an asylum. When you came in exodus with that gloom look on your face knocking on the door for survival, you think it wasn't intentional when the host compassionately opened their doors to help you start your lives afresh.
