4.4kw For N1000 (aedc Put Me In Band A) by skultrick(op):
I don't even understand, I just noticed that instead of 9 units for 1k before, I now get 4 units.

This is absolutely not funny. Going by this new rate, I will need around 150 units in a month. That's around 35k for nepa light.

I just want to know how much people in Band A pay in Abuja.

Re: 4.4kw For N1000 (aedc Put Me In Band A) by skultrick(op): 1:31pm On Jan 27, 2025
In otherwords, even the US where electricity is very stable they pay less than Nigeria

Calculate their rate to naira

So this nepa are charging you

As of January 2025, the average cost of one unit of electricity in the United States was 16.94 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh). However, the price of electricity varies by state, and the rate charged by your local energy provider may be higher or lower.
Explanation
Factors that affect electricity rates
The price of electricity depends on several factors, including the size of your home, how old it is, how energy efficient it is, and how many people live there. The weather and climate can also affect your electricity bill.
State-by-state variations
In January 2025, Utah had the lowest average electricity rate at 11.42 cents per kWh, while Hawaii had the highest at 41.27 cents per kWh.

It is almost similar but the purchasing power of both countries are not the same the difference is huge.

$1,218 (N1,863,000) Vs N30,000 is what? Making both to pay same amount is:

Wickedness, heartlessness huh shocked shocked angry

I just found out, they deduct 50% for an outstanding on the meter. That means I was charged around 240 per kw

It's almost the same. I get around 4.4kwh for 1k.

My 11k this morning gave me 22kwh and that's because of an outstanding on the meter.

Please can someone explain to me why aedc is charging me #136 per unit on Band B l, instead of 76 per unit?

I used buypower and they sent me a mail which I uploaded here. If you look at the receipt they sent, 464 naira was deducted.

Actually, this is a new meter in a new house. But before they brought the meter we used light for 4 months or so without paying. So they billed each apartment 141k outstanding.

I just used buypower now and confirmed they took deducted about 50% as debt. But then, I have no debt in my metre. I checked a previous transaction and realized I e offset the debt for a long time now. So AEDC is just stealing from me.
Below is a 2023 bill and it stated outstanding debt is #0

This is my bill today. Notice that the debt is now #2,345. But the "remaining debt" is still #0.

It is important to go to their office and clarify things because I am more confused after checking my tariff from their website.

It shows that I am actually in Band C but I bought light of 11k today and only got 22units.

Moreover, my outstanding is still saying 141k.

So where has all the money been going to if they are not deducting it.

First thing tomorrow I will be in their office pr better still go to the head office in wuse zone 4.

These guys are noting but thieves

Omoh! 22units for 11k on band C? That is madness. Something must be wrong with these guys.
My details from this website shows 19k+, but it has been 19k since I moved into this apartment 2yrs ago. So I assumed that information is not being updated.
Tomorrow morning, I'm at their office.

It's a big big lie
You are not owing any outstanding

That debt is made up out of thin air

I am actually owing them. The compound is a new house with 5 flats and each flat was billed 141k for using light for 4 months without paying.

Okay

But are you saying you didn't pay for light you used for 4months?

Or you are new there, and they told you that the last occupant did not pay bill for 4 months ?

Or being a newly launched house, they just manufactured phantom light bill debt out of the blue just because they are installing light in the new house?

Which is the case?

AEDC ARE THIEVES
I just chatted up AEDC on X(Twitter) and below is what they said.
"Dear Customer, kindly be informed that a review of your account shows that you have a debt for the sum of ₦ ₦ -11,861.80 and you are on 50% deduction plans. Hence the reason for the deduction. Note that your vending was used to offset the debt in your account. For more information, kindly visit the area office serving you. NU"
The vending receipt clearly shows I have no debt. Two years ago, I had around 16k outstanding. Two years now they are telling me I still have 11k. I recharge averagely 3 times a month and they always deducted some part for outstanding. As at November 2023, 8 had no debt as can be clearly seen. Are they saying that a new debt came up? If it is the same debt, are they saying I've not offset 16k in 2yrs? Now they are taking 50% of my recharge as debt. If this is not robbery, I wonder what is.

This is exactly my point. It seems AEDC keeps manufacturing debt from thin air. Now they have gone beast mode to collect 50% of whatever you recharge. They are nothing but thieves.

From we later found out the problem is from the owner of the apartment. He never registered with aedc.

When I parked in, I asked and was told all have been taken care of.

But after 2 months and no bill, I asked and was told it is the normal tradition for a new house that the bill will come.

Well, on the 4th month aedc officials raided the apartment and disconnected the light. They went ahead and billed each flat 141k for the 4 months used.

That money is what is reflecting on my meter

That is exactly how much it is now for Band A customers in Abuja. They literally just forced or moved people over to these bands without seeking your consent. I spend over 100k in my household per month for light and that is even with serious in-house control and minimal use of power ooh...
