Teacher suffer alot in this country amid economy depression and high cost of living, yet salaries remain the same.

Netizens resonate with the user that some of them too pass through such hardship.

Govt should look into private school teacher’s renumeration and try to improve it.

If you cannot afford at least N500k per term in this present economy, then you're better off homeschooling your child.

The days of the great teachers and pride in teaching are gone for good. Education 20 years ago was far more superior and affordable than they are today.
Please watch this video and see the quality of our students in the days of yore.

https://x.com/Harmless12345/status/1883982438847918478?t=y0ahr-f8spafV2XeOKyGyw&s=19[/quote]This is painfully remarkable and even bewildering.

A few years ago I met a group of teachers from the East and South South, who had come to the UK to do a Masters programme in Education in a University in Merseyside.

They explained they were earning 35/40k a month, l actually did not believe them 😞

Now as teachers with a B.Ed degree you are classified as professional teachers in the UK and after accreditation you can work in the UK.

Although you are only allowed to work part-time 20 hours a week. However, as a professional teacher you can do supply reaching which is 6/7 hours a day.

A supply teacher can earn a day £150-250 a day which will amount to £450-750 a week.

This is incredulous, a teacher earns 420k a year in Nigeria which if you use the average supply teacher pay per day of £200. Is essentially equivalent to the annual salary of a teacher in Nigeria.

That's madness 🤬

Why will people not want to do anything to JAPA.

That job and work load is a drag but as much as it's a stepping stone for some, it can be depressing for a lot.

Anyone going through this phase, craft a worthy goal and keep your eyes on it. You will pull through.

Private schools hmm the tori long oo.

My own advise is if you don't get a job with all these standard private schools that pays well with good benefits or a good state govt teaching job like Lagos state that is fair to teachers please run. Or be doing all these tutorials for IGCSE Sat etc etc. Or find a particular niche that is in demand and teach it partime. I know someone who teaches Yoruba in my area, he teaches part time in schools around. The funny part is he studied another thing entirely , it was when he started he enrolled for partime Yoruba and graduated and Lasg made languagues compulsory. Good thing lots of teachers are doing tutorials and online teaching.

Most of these schools are pure slavery.

I taught for like a year after NYSC while waiting for masters admission and job hunting I wbvas paid 18k which was fair considering it was more than 11 years ago, no Tfare but I was always borrowing money from my mum.
She was always saying thins kind work you are doing but always borrowing money, you never see work o.

Once I enter transport to other sides of lagos few times in a month money has gone down. I was wondering how the married people there cope Did it for 1 term I. E 3rd term then I got a better one for 25k Did it for 1st and 2nd term, by then admission list came out and I did all Report cards and every marking and all.

So the term ended and I was supposed to get my salary and this woman said she had a feeling I won't be available the next term I told her I got admission but I have concluded for the term, this woman paid me 10k, honestly I cried. angry. My self and mum still talked about the issue recently and we laughed so hard.

The one I got to hear recently I know both teacher and proprietress, she said she will pay the teacher half salary in January because school resumed 13th January and half salary in April because her school will vacate on the 7th April.

And guess what the salary is 12k not that either of them told me how much but because the woman said the propeitor even removes Tithe from her salary and gives her 10800, that's how I could deduce the money was 12k. I never hear that one before oo. But the woman has a ministry.

Now it's that 12k they want to pay half in January and April. grin

And they are all christains.

Teaching job nearly derailed my career plan. It was one of my worst decisions ever. I wished I never wasted about 6 years teaching. I should have used that golden period to learn a tech skills. Thank God I left though.

What is a tutorial college?
Zico5:
Any graduate that's teaching in a private school with pay less than 100k is just wasting his/her time and energy. Before you understand what's going on, you are close to 50 years then they will discard you with young blood. Instead of teaching in a private school, kindly find a tutorial college where they can pay you 1.5k per hour. They are plenty everywhere especially when jamb and waec are approaching. Teaching in a private secondary school is a pure slavery.

What do you bake please. Bread or puff puff?
Are you working as an employee with the baking skill or you have your own business?
akinlolumichael:
Chai, teacher dey suffer for this kontri oooo (most especially private schools registered under proprietor association 😂). 2015 after my NYSC, I wrote an application to one private school in my area, the proprietress was telling me to teach Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Chemistry (which as a fresh graduate then, I can still take) but upon discussing about salary, she was offering 10k, which I rejected. I asked her "are you subsidising school fees for all your student or is the school free for all your students"?. I later realised, each student in SS1 alone is paying more than 30k then. And she want to pay a stipend to teachers. Cr*zy proprietor.

Na so I decided to burn my CV and learn a baking skill. Today, baking pays all my bills.

first off, you must have a very clear accent, no tribal intonation or whatever we call it here, then, you must have any of the following certificates, TEFL, CELTA, TESOL, TOEFL etc, you must be tech savvy because you going to use some apps like Classin (most commonly used), zoom, voov, Skype etcdepending on the requirements of the organisation. A very good introduction video of not more than 1min long. In short you will need a good mentor to train you because it is not an easy process
