Following a statement released by NSCIA advocating for the SW Muslim's right to having Sharia panel, Many Southwesterners have gone to social media to show their displeasure over the statement released.

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) —under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, CFR, mni- is particularly disturbed about the high spate of intolerance and disregard for the rights of Muslims, especially in the southern pan of the country.

The most recent of this is the development emanating from Ekiti state where the efforts of the Muslim community to set up an Independent Shariah (Arbitration) Panel was met with unwarranted resistance and objections from both political and traditional quarters.

This is coming barely few weeks after the announcement on the inauguration of a Shariah panel in Oyo State generated unnecessary anxiety thereby leading to its indefinite postponement. The Independent Arbitration Panel, which is a voluntary platform designed solely for the resolution of civil and marital disputes among consenting Muslims, was to fill the inexplicable vacuum created by the failure of the political elite in South-Western Nigeria to establish Shariah Courts, as allowed by the Nigerian Constitution, in South-Western states, despite the huge population of Muslims in the region.

This and other cases, such as the denial of the rights of female students to wear the Hijab despite a Supreme Court judgement, are nothing but calculated attempts to prevent Muslims in the region from practicing their faith.

Meanwhile, Arbitration and the Shariah Court of Appeal, just like the Customary Court of Appeal (which all of them have) are provided for in the 1999 Constitution amended) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (sec section 275), confirming the legality of both initiatives.

The Sultan of Sokoto and the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs is part of the plot. That plot will fail. Sharia is unwanted in the Southwest. There are courts in the southWest that can handle civil and criminal offences hence there is no lace for the primitive Sharia rules and punishment.

Any body in the Southwest that is not comfortable can go to the North where Sharia is practiced to stay and reside.

Do you know that if Sharia is allowed in the SW, it means the Sultan will be making laws for Yorubas.

Prophet MNK S.A.W forewarned them in 2014 but they called him all sorts of degrading names. Some even asked for his head on a platter, now the prophecy is playing before their very eyes. Them no kuku born jagaban to oppose the caliphate.

Sultan of Sokoto is only influential in his core Northern state. He has no business meddling into the SW affairs.

If we don’t care how the North choose to live their life, Sultan should respect his age and not ridicule himself more than this.

The Sharia which is the grandfather of Boko HARAM today,in which millions of people have perished and Nigeria wasting enoumous resources everyday to combat. Yet, these thirty blood suckers never stop to advocate for it.

How is it possible to establish Sharia in a region, which is almost equal with 2 dominant religions?
The region where it has been established, what are the gains?
The reason why people lost common sense wen it comes to religion still not clear to me.
