Not least impressed with what i saw from Ronald Araujo yesterday despite him scoring and chest punching. In the last two UCL games, we have conceded 6 goals already.

A very leaky defense cannot win the UCL, no matter how good your attack is.

I noticed something,just like i always notice maa notice... disparity is welcomed.

Our midfielders are always shy giving killer through pass or defece splitting pass(you know those forward killing passes)....except Olmo.

Pedri will only give that kinda pass once in 5 opportunities, the other scenerio he prefers turning and side passes,De jong is worse of them all, niqqa only turns and don't care if it's even his own half which is risky.

Even Koude gives some unbelievable attacking pass to strikers at times compared to Frankie,Gavi..and i believe this is one reason we struggle with low block teams.

We played a more conservative style than what we're used to yesterday. I feel we respected Atalanta too much and given we've already secured our position in the next round there was not much incentive to push further.

Araujo seems not in tune with the offside trap setting and all that and our defence still has some frailty. Our GK also don't really instill much confidence. Left to me, I really wouldn't really bank on Szczesny as the starting GK for big moments especially in the UCL where any fvvk ups cost you dearly such as last season's Araujo's brain fart.

De Jong in that midfield yesterday didn't give the team much stability. He's ineffective in teams that can transition very fast between passes. Casado would have been better cos he's better at breaking down and intercepting penetrating runs. They easily ran through our midfield when they were with the ball.
Overall it's a decent game. Shows we can at least keep up with fast teams with potent attack. My only issue or 'gap' in evaluating our whole league stage performance is due to the absence of Ademola Lookman. I'd have loved he played and gauge our performance against Atalanta instead of a weakened team. He would have given Araujo and Kounde a mouthful.

My theory is that Barcelona would've defeated Atalanta with Lookman on the pitch. May be a thrashing. If you watch Atlanta with Lookman, there's this dependency on him and most times they lose focus. In the game Vs Madrid, they kept on passing to him and lost the game. In their home loss(2:3) Vs Napoli it was same issue. Same thing happened in the game Vs inter. He entered in the second half and about 10 mins later, it was a wrap for inter because they kept trying to find him. Barcelona have played better teams this season and killed them. They've played against better wingers in Vinicious and Mbape and kept them relatively quiet. Lookman is not better than both.

Let's not forget that Barca had absolutely nothing to lose in that game while Atalanta had everything to play for. May be Lookman scores in the game because they'll feed him the ball alot but if he was on the pitch, I see Barca winning 4:2 or 3:2. Why? Because in the process of trying to bypass the midfield and trying to get the ball immediately to Lookman, they'll misplace one or two passes which will lead to a Barca transition and you can see how quick this current Barca play on transition/midfield turn overs by the opposition. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, almost world class but he's not better than Mbape and Vincius which you already played. The same issue with Lookman is what Barca will face with Yamal when they face a low block. Aside Lookman nobody can dribble and drive the ball for Atalanta. Barca is having similar issues. Only Lamine can truly dribble up front.

I'm not saying it's wrong to feed your best player ball but if you're not Messi or Ronaldo then the team must work together more.

Yes, this could end ugly for ManCity. They've been very poor this season and I don't see how they'll get the better of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid would easily expose them in transition. It might even end up being very ugly for City. They've been weak physically and they make way too many individual mistakes in defence and midfield.
