Any married woman who has a very kind mother in law should be thanking God every day. The thing I hear about mother in law is very interesting, and I feel that a great mother in law can help in any in law matter especially if she is kind and caring. For those who have excellent mother in law, show love back and treat her nice.

According to your culture, marrying a person is marrying the person's family. A sensible person, aware of this basic fact, would make certain to screen both the potential partner as well as the partner's relationships/familial bonds in deciding whether there is a good or bad match.

I don't know what you mean by marrying a person's family, but I do know that marriage means relating with people who you may not have related with if the marriage had not occurred.

Of which it is still the same type of relationship which you have with your own family members some of whom you would not have related with if not that you people are related.

Same for some colleagues at the office or worse, your boss

So, it is still a thing of having a decent and reasonable relationship with people who it needs be that you relate with.

All those useless genZ wives that complain about their mother in laws today will also turn out more evil in the future. Women don't accept what they themselves dish out. When the mother in laws try to protect their sons from the evilness of their wives, the wives complain but they too will grow to start protecting their own sons in the future. Mummy's boys are everywhere now, that will allow there mama to disrupt there marriage. Family start with two people which are husband and wife. Which oyinbo people called nuclear family. While your mama is part of your extended family. We all know that nuclear family is greater than your extended family.

What I am trying to let you know is that, your wife must come first before your mama. No argue on that. Love your mama and take good care of her. But do not allow her to put you in a position that she will have to let you choose between you or your wife. She can't take two families for herself. She already has your father. Another woman is for you. That will be selfishness on her part taking your father, also won't let another woman have you. Let her take one. Sometimes you may not know the type of mother in law you may have until life start happening e.g when one need help with baby sitting or money or so forth. I have heard story of how some mother in law how they were very nice during the wedding or when they were dating and they turn up to be something else.

The same way a man will sometimes listen to friends and neighbors about a woman is the same way he also needs to listen to friends and neighbors regarding his in-laws.

People don't typically change overnight and so it is up to you to make up your mind what you will tolerate and what you will not before marriage, typically not after. 🤔
