What Value Has Government Added To Nigerians From Subsidy Removal? by givedemwotowoto(op): 10:10pm On Feb 01, 2025
With petrol subsidy, the average car owner in Nigeria saved about N140,000 monthly or N1.6 million naira annually. The math is simple. If you used 50 liters of petrol weekly, that was about N15,000 compared to N50,000 naira now.

Subsidy removal means government took away over N1 million naira annually from millions of households.

What has the government done for Nigerians to justify taking away millions of naira annually from their households?

Problem of Nigeria is embezzlement and looting of public funds. Even with subsidies, a serious government can deliver for their people.

Ameachi was working .. Fashola was stumbling and waking .. but working . Onu was busy..Aregbe was in charge and putting up.. minister of foreign affair .. was everywhere .. Dalung .. was displaying .. all was seen with less propaganda ..

Even the VP was busy

Look at Tinubu administration with his yorub people ..

Nothing .. is moving .

Yet the same Yoruba people keep blaming the buhari government that delivered to San extend

Tinubu and his Yoruba government are fraud .. hopelessly fraud

You're acting as if government is taking money from your pocket.
Government was borrowing money to pay for subsidy. It's not as if government had the money. Therefore borrowing for subsidy has stop.
Nobody is taking any money from you. You paying for what you consume

It's just an excuse to continue looting. Is it not government that is responsible for putting in place things that encourages investment?
How can one do anything when the hands are tied?
Politicians and beneficiaries of politicians lack empathy and blame the common man always.
Those developing other foreign countries, are they not same humans like the ones found in Nigeria?
Just to provide basic needs they start acting like gods.

This question indicates your need for education on economics.
First subsidy removal cannot immediately translate to benefits.
Why? Nigeria prior to the removal Nigeria was using 99% of it revenue in servicing debts ( not evening paying back) not only that Nigeria have collected payment in advance for oil it hs not even drilled. Which is another debt. Then the most shameful of all, businesses such as airlines had their money swallowed up in the mess.
Nigeria was like an accident victim in the emergency room. The first is to stop the bleeding and stabilise the patient. At this point the patient might still be in great distress. Recovery does not show immediately.
Benefit is Nigeria has a future.

Before the WB or IMF gives you a loan, you must have a collateral to back it up. In this case Nigeria uses projected/future sales revenue from oil as collateral. You’re not a genius for knowing that. That’s basic knowledge. Other countries do the same including Russia. Also, I don’t need your elementary school analogies, answer the question.

FG said they removed subsidy because it wasn’t benefiting Nigerians, that it was benefiting only a few people. Now that subsidy has been removed and many Nigerians have to pay over N1 million more than they were paying for petrol alone, how has FG benefited them with the money saved?

let assumed without conceding that what you said is true, will the solution be stitching the wounds without palliatives and in the most guerelling manner ,giving 15 injections,at once instead of one spread over some days
Will a good doctor not review his treatment plan to check if it is working, if the patient is deteriorating like the case of Nigeria
The language used here is the usual government propaganda to pull wool over the eyes of the people, even the owners of the prescription the imf and World Bank has said if it will yield results it will take about 15years ,does Nigeria have that luxury, meaning it will like 4 terms of Tinubu, meaning Tinubu will not be around to give the result, he would have just suffered Nigerians for nothing
This bolekaja, made in bourdillon policies cannot yield any meaningful results, that's the truth
