did you watched a movie because of the women
lol No. I wanted to watch a Nigerian period action drama, and the quality, story, and cast looked solid.

Well, WB will be asking themselves serious questions cos I'm still wondering how bean counter Zaslav okayed $140mn for PTA — his biggest budget EVER!!

Mind you, his highest grossing movie is There Will Be Blood with a $74mn global cume. 👀👀

Case in point, PTA has never gotten $50mn for a film production before, talkless of $100mn.

WB literally has the riskiest film slate of the 3 biggest studios and even very niche even for WB standards.

The year 2025 marks a time of rebuild for the House of Barbie, with an auteur-charged slate of 13 titles anchored by Superman, James Gunn’s feature blast-off to his new DC studio.

Arguably, it’s the first year that Motion Picture Group co-chairs and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy can entirely call their own since taking the reins in the summer of 2022, without any previous regime blemishes (i.e. The Flash, Furiosa, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom), though the two have been involved in the post-production of inherited titles.

$80mn for Maggie Gyllynhaal horror film THE BRIDE

$90mn for Ryan Coogler + Michael B Jordan vampire horror — SINNERS

$10MN for COMPANION, the cheapest spend

$80mn for Bong Jo Ho MICKEY 17 Robert Pattinson starrer

Word is Warners is trying to restore faith from auteur filmmakers back to the fold after the disastrous Jason Kilar's WarnerMedia lost Chris Nolan.
How well this turns out, is a game of wait and see.

I'll give it to them tho, it's an ambitious lineup and with lots of balls considering what its competitors are fielding. WB also somewhat has the most interesting slate nonetheless, with good dose of Original films. Little IP movies from them this year with their biggest bets being SUPERMAN and MINECRAFT.

WB seems to have also brought back the mid budget films back in. I've always looked the studio not deft at making money with the way Universal with Blumhouse and Focus Features spin money with little budgets or like Sony

Jesus Christ!!!
Wetin dey occur? 🤯😳

$100mn single day in a single market?? shocked shocked
This is on Saturday...not even Friday. 🙌🏽🙌🏽

I ain't really surprised by the $1bn projections judging from the original grossing $700mn+ in 2019 and highest grossing animation in a singular market ....but this year records and pace is just crazy.

Anyways, all good for the Middle Kingdom.
Last year wasn't a really good year for China at the box office. It's nice to hear audiences are back in theatres in droves especially for Chinese New Year celebrations.

These sequence of events that has unravelled, this past week, couldn't have happened to a more disgusting and hypocritical movie such as this dirtbag of a flick.

The Oscars should feel real stupid now, ignoring valid calls before those nominations came out, and going ahead to make this one of the highest nominated flick ever as per the Academy awards. Now they are in a pickle, If this trash goes on to win any of the big 5 awards, literally everyone is gonna eat the oscars up for been tone deaf to a movie that has pulled one of the greatest gaslight in modern cinema, but then again, if after 13 nominations, it ends up winning nothing because of the ongoing debacle, it further exposes how fraudulent and hypocritical the charade of the Academy awards has become...real ones know they hold zero credibility at this point anyways.

Only Zoe Saldana deserves to walk out of all these unscathed, her performance deserves it, but i fear, all these noise envelopes it all. I am wholly in support of quite frankly, one of the worst films in recent memory failing at the biggest stage after been propped up there by misguided critics nonsense propagandist agenda...see it's failure will bring me untold respite ngl 👌🏿.

Overly racist and annoying comments over the years you just begin to wonder who's safe from his Ire. grin grin

The Oscars is now in a conundrum, to drop this shït and lose credibility or stick with their atrocious propaganda to save face.

Netflix got themselves in a royal shitstorm.

He's not alone. It's audience score is terrible everywhere. Google users gave it a 21% rating, 18% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and almost all the reviews on YouTube are negative. The Oscars really messed up with this movie.

I was literally the happiest person ever when the story unfolded on Twitter. The fact that the Oscars already had a big announcement and speech planned to honour his nomination as the first trans person to get it is hilarious plus former nominees have to come on stage to stay great things about the 2025 nominees😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 bonkers!
This just shows their nominations are always political not merit based!

The fact that a little digging could have solved all the problems. Bro was using Twitter as his moodboard😂 Twitter seriously has demons. 90% of Oscar controversies would be solved is people keep their thoughts to themselves and not on Twitter

Am I the only one that thinks Zoe Saldana's acting in the movie sucked ass and the only reason people are rooting for her is just because they like her as a person and not the performance. Ariana Grande did a totally better job with the other nominees. Are we going to forget Saldana gave the cringiest musical performance in musicals history. Please guys watch this and tell me how the Oscars looked at this and gave director nomination over Denis Villeneuve

I thought I was the only one.
Wondering where everyone was seeing the class acting performance she delivered cos I couldn't see shït. It was just a basic performance to me.

Despite rating the movie high, I couldn't see the hype in Zoe Saldana and felt people were just giving her a pass. In fact, the other stars in the annoying racist Karla Sofia Gascon and incoherent non-fluent Spanish speaking Selena Gomez did a far convincing job to me.

Den of Thieves (2018) - 7.5/10

A gritty heist thriller with intense action and smart tactics. Hats off to Gerard Butler like always baba no disappoint. The film delivers thrilling shootouts, solid performances, and a surprising twist at the end.

Pros:
✔ Intense action and realistic shootouts
✔ Well-planned heist with smart execution
✔ Strong performances and character depth

Cons:
✖ Some unnecessary personal drama

For it's realism and suspense, it's a solid 7.5 for me

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera (2025) -6/10

If you enjoyed the first film, this is another dose of crime, action, and betrayal. It's was ok but not on par or better than the original.

Pros:
✔ Intense action and shootouts scenes
✔ Smart heist planning and unexpected twists

Cons:
✖ Story wasn't as strong as the first movie
✖ Some scenes felt stretched
