Tinubu needs to stop this immediately.....I supported subsidy removal, naira devaluation, telecoms tarrif review, tax reforms.....but this one is a no no!! If it's expedient but the timing is totally wrong.
He needs to remove it. Nigerians want quality and we’re not ready to pay for it. The west that we all want to copy so bad, if we check their amenities, they are working. But do you know how much they pay for these things?. Ask people you know in u.k , USA , Italy , France about bills, example light bill , water bill, phone bill, gas bill. It’s expensive but they are seeing the service.

Just a brief comment here.

The fact is, the power sector is underfunded. All the problems, corruption included, arise from the fact that the power sector is underfunded. And no matter how much profit they may make, it cannot offset the debts they have. Already they have been in trobule with the banks and with state government taxation agencies for unremmited tax

That is why the government should let the discos increase tarrifs.

But most of you guys will shout poverty.

Shouting poverty does not change the fact that most discos cannot get enough money to pay for gencos and by extension the improvements needed.

Forget politcs. If a business needs extra money, they increase prices.

That is why Nigerians deserve no pity.

Repercussions of
Tpain increasing petrol price from N150+ to N1000+ naira

And official dollar rate from N450+ to N1700!
But wages and salaries did not go up. Remained the same.
And he expects everyone to say Okay we will swallow these increases and keep quiet?

It can never ever be the same, otherwise the costs will be too much for these businesses leading to losses.

He is the one solely responsible for all these wahala.

He wants you to pay the same amount developed advanced counties like America pay for electricity! But the problem with this government is that workers here wether public or private sector are not payed the kind of wages those in America are payed. So it is impossible to afford these crazy high tarrifs

It's now clearer, the rush behind "subsidy is gone"

Subsidy removal for Nigerians is the highest point of wickedness from government...

Yes, t-pain is a bad leader.

But let's forget politics. All this subsidy removal thing has been a permanent message since the 1980's. That tells me that by then we were struggling to pay them

Fast forward to 2023, and we were spending 90% if not more of government revenue on paying debts...that resulted in large parts from paying subsidy.

If we continued with what you are implying we should continue with, the debt that would result would eat all our revenue and any loans we take.

We would in essence end up taking loans to pay off our debts ...like victims of the loan sharks here.

Now, oga, I know you want to call me APC supporter....when I am not, and I despise them, but let's forget politcs....what would you do if debt was eating 90% of revenue.? And what do you do if your budget is 49 trillion, and debt is 120 trillion

That's right, you make some cuts.

I am not here to argue for tpain, or to defend him. I am here to tell you how much of a mess we are in from years of being too reliant on oil and oil alone. The same mistake t-pain is making now, because he does not want to take hard decisions. Even subsidy removal was not by his choice. IMF Is frowning, and getting loans was getting harder.

This current government does not care about any service delivery. Their only objective is to find ways to increase everything.
Increasing electricity tariff for distribution companies that cannot effectively meter customers and replace obsolete infrastructure. No single improvement has been witnessed from the increment of last year but another one is here again and the usual lie is subsidy.
Telecom companies too would increase there own, no improvement.
No their plan is to free up money for them to steal . They are transferring their incompetences to Nigerians to bear the brunt. Nigerians that have refused to align against their oppressive leadership.

All these boils down to leadership. Leaders don't want to do the right things! What are the right things? They don't want to even do their work, and do it well.

Number 1 is fighting corruption in all its many facets/ramifications. By also Making hard choices to checkmate his friends and himself!

2. Fighting insecurity

3. Fighting cultural and religious practices that are not making us to move forward and choking the development of this country. They are too numerous to mention.

4. Employ the best hands to manage all the sectors of the economy by merit.

5. Conscious effort to invest in human resource of the country and increase human development index

6. Refocus, restructure education to emphasize rapid industrialization and infrastructural development of the country through research, development, innovation.

7. Others.
