1. The laptop needs to have a Type C port since that's readily supported.
2. The power bank should be able to output 45W and above. Older laptop models may require less power but those hardly have Type C charging port
In summary, use only a power bank only if specified to charge laptops. The power drain on unsupported power banks will damage the batteries in the power bank.

It's forgiveable though, since it's likely your first time doing this alternative energy thing and you went in yourself. Moreover, we can't all be lucky to meet good guidance on our first try.
