The people of Orsu and Ihiala areas brought this on themselves.

I worked and lived in Ihiala whilst spending my weekend with my family in Okigwe so I made regular travels to and from Ihiala via Orlu and Orsu.

The people of Orlu, Orsu and Ihiala like some other LGAs and villages in both Imo and Anambra states embraced IPOB with open arms. Allowed them to take over their forest without complain in the guise of fighting off herdsmen. They even christened them Umuchukwu and supported them to sack police stations and LG headquarters. Orsu LG headquarters was even painted in Biafra colours and was an operational base.

The support from the people was so much that before soldiers coming from either Owerri or Onitsha will reach Orlu town or Ihiala junction, word would have reached the criminals and they will take cover and mix among the population.

It took at least 2 years in 2022/2023 before the same people so IPOB as a terror organisation that it is. By then, it was too late.

Orlu and Orsu now closely resemble towns in the 1970s after the war.

I resigned my job at Ihiala, sold my properties in the East, packed my family and left the country with no plan of returning because of fear of the unknown.
