Don't you remember what happened when American troops went to Afghanistan to stop the flow of heroin from the source? .... production dramatically increased while they were there. Same happened prior to that when they were in South America saying the war on cocaine. Now why would one want to believe that Mexican troops will stop the flow of fentanyl? ... cut off a source of income for Mexican cartels and those being dragged out of the US? I expect an increase in the flow of fentanyl and cocaine into the US.

The 10,000 soldiers would reduce the immigration burden by detaining, processing, and repatriating immigrants. These processes would have cost the USA money, time, and effort; time and effort also translate to money.

It is best to shift the cost back to the source and ensure they prevent illegal immigrant entry.

Mexico yielding after Trump had humiliated them like babies is too insulting. If Trump wanted a deal, he should have done that respectfully from the start. But insulting them by forcing or rather threatening a tariff on them (like they were mere idiots), and sending their citizens back in handcuffs was too much for a sovereign nation. And to worsen matters the stupid Mexican president easily capitulated without giving him any fight. Canada is doing the right thing presently. Show him that Canada can survive without him and that America also has something to lose too and that they can also retaliate tit for tat. By that, you'd show your sovereignty. This would calm him down and bring him begging for negotiation. I mean the US stock market is already crashing. That's enough to shake him off.
