Only state governments via the state assemblies are empowered to establish sharia “courts”. And even when done, they are voluntary for both Muslims and Christians. Even as a Muslim you can choose not to appear before a sharia court and you can choose not to be bound by the judgement even when you willingly attend.

If they implemented sharia in the north the way it is spelt out in the constitution, I am sure nobody would have a problem. But they don’t and take advantage of the fact that many of them in the North are ignorant of the law. Therefore based on how they have implemented sharia in the North and considering that only a state assembly can establish sharia, they will struggle to get this going in the SW.


Having said that I was surprised to learn that sharia court or panel is fully active in Lagos state!

I trust my South East brothers, they can't even try it in the South East. They will be stoned to death. Honestly, Yoruba Muslims are our problem in the South West. Always supporting anything evil.
