The reasons are...
1. IVF is cheaper in Nigeria

2. Multiple embryo transfers that can result in having twins,triplets,etc can be done in Nigeria

3. Some facilities in Nigeria accept to do sex selection.
Unlike overseas where (2) and (3) are illegal.

4. If she is advanced in age,say 40+,some IVF centres will still try using her eggs for the procedure but overseas,many do not.
They insist on donor eggs.

I will NEVER, I repeat,NEVER entrust my life in the hands of any Nigerian medical care system, no matter how highly rated. I would rather remain there tha go tidk my life again. There are challenges in all medical care system but that of Nigeria is out of thos world

Funny enough, Nigerian health care providers are part of the reasons their system abroad is far better than what you have at home

He is not lying though. But they are all Nigerians living abroad. Some go back to Nigeria to have their dental issues fixed because of the very expensive nature of dental procedures abroad. Some go back home for surgeries because these western countries don't rush to operate on you if it is not an emergency. They will give you a far date for the surgery. Some Nigerians just go back home and do the surgery and go back abroad.

Dr Ajayi, who is the Managing Director of Nordica Fertility Centre, a foremost fertility treatment centre in Abuja, however, blamed insecurity for the inability of foreign nationals to embrace Nigeria for the fertility treatment.

He said Nigerians living abroad were embracing IVF in the country because of the centre’s technology and engagement in the best standard of IVF.

“What we have tried to do, year in and year out is to make sure that we meet up to international standards. That is what we set up to do from the get-go, to make sure that Nigerians here in Nigeria, can have the same treatment and that is why we try to move abreast with technology.

” That we are here in Nigeria does not mean we are sub-humans. Europeans don’t have two heads. We also try to give Nigerians what they will get if they go to Paris or London and that has been our goal all along. So Year in and year out, that is what we try to match ourselves with and I can say proudly that everybody is beginning to see that and that is why we are getting many more people coming in from abroad to come to Nigeria for IVF treatment.

“So, it’s common now for people in England, for people in the U.S to say look, if you want to do IVF, go to Nigeria.

“We get a lot of people from Australia, America, coming to Nigeria for IVF. Nigerians who live there, come home for IVF treatment,” he said.

On whether foreign nationals were also embracing his centre,Dr Ajayi said,”The only people who are confident in coming to Nigeria are Nigerians.”

You have tasted both sides and I have worked in the Healthcare both in Nigeria and abroad. Some Healthcare centres in Nigeria are of world standard and their workforce know their onions.

lol agreed, it won't change the fact that most of our hospitals aren't good. There was this nice hospital (structure) close to my previous place, but no doctors, just 1 consultant others were students.

If this is true and with the current state of our hospitals, then they expand the mortuary section because there would be more bodies than be fore.

People come from the US, Canada and the UK for IVF in Nigeria all the time. I know a Nigerian doctor that relocated to Nigeria from Canada and set up a IVF hospital in Nigeria.
